Markus is good, guys. Like M2N good. Among freshmen, based on efficiency and usage, his only peers are projected first rounders or past first rounders.

Quote from: pux90mexI'm not saying Howard will be a first rounder this or any other year, being a sub-6-foot player is a death knell at the next level.

I'll say that Howard will not be a first rounder this year ;)

True, as he won't make the age requirement.

Teams that give up 53% ORB are 8-29 this year.    Last night was an anomaly.

I say he's here three years.

I actually think  2 or 3 but looking at it "MU optimistically"...and his age.

His height may be a bigger impediment to leaving early than his age.   He CAN leave after next season.   I don't see it.

Also, it seems like he would be one to stick around and get his degree, although I have no inside info on that. It just seems like something his family would want him to do.

But judging by his history, there's always the chance that he could graduate Marquette in 2-3 years.

Doing it on the court while taking 32 credits per semester! What a beast.

Marcus will play four years and set many records at Marquette and lead us to a NCAA champ I township.  Ring out ahoya.

He's the next Jarel McNeal

Play four years, set tons of MU records, may even get anointed an All-America and get consideration for BE POY.

Then he will play in Europe and/or the D league and possibly get a cup of coffee in the NBA.

Question, do you think Ryan Arcidiacono was good?  He lead Nova to a National Championship and then went undrafted was cut by the Spurs and is now troiling away in the D league.  He has yet to put on an NBA uniform.  Oh, and he is 6' 3" whereas Howard is 5' 11'

If Howard is BE POY NEXT YEAR I will reconsider.

This reminds me of the worry this board had a few years back that Eric Williams would go pro early and deny us the opportunity to what him do great things at MU.

If Howard leaves after 2 or 3 years, it is because he transfers, not go pro.

(To be clear, I think Howard is an awesome player.  These two posts are directed at you guys that really do not understand that maybe 40 or 50 guys a year get a chance to play in the NBA and one-quarter to one-third come from Europe never playing at a US college.  So their are only 25 to 40 spots a year US for college players and as awesome as Howard is, their are guys with his skill set that are 6' 7" that will be picked over him.)

I think it depends on how he keeps up. If he becomes our go-to scorer next year, puts up 22 ppg, maintains his three-point shooting say over 45%, and improves his distribution to 6 apg while capturing some All-American accolades (first or second team) then I think he might declare early. If not next year, after his junior year. Guys like Kyle Lowry, Ty Lawson, and Chris Paul all got drafted after going early entrant. If Markus is that good, he could follow in their footsteps.

I think unless Wojo leaves, it's far more likely that if Howard does leave it will be to go to the NBA. I don't see him transferring. The kid is a 17-year-old freshman and the team is already his. Sitting out a season would only hurt his draft prospects and earning potential.
