Who is MU's best inside player?

Luke Fischer
Matt Heldt
Sam Hauser

Dawson Rental

Here's a hint, Its Hauser.  Better offensive player, better defender, better rebounder (because he boxes out).
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Hauser is a 4

But if ur asking if heldt is better rhan fisher its a resounding yes.
Last year the only times we were any good is when we played henry at the 5 with 4 guards.  Luke makes us horrible
Political free board, plz leave your clever quips in your clever mind.

Ummm, why isn't Howard an option.  I think he scored the most points in the paint tonight.  (note:  not really saying Howard is our best inside player, but no one deserved such an honor tonight.)

Not when we go small.  I thought we should have done it more often.

BTW... Hauser has 6 more 2-point FGA's than Heldt this season. More than 3 out of every 4 FGA's for Hauser are from 3-point range this year. #InsiderPlaya?

Fours play inside too.  I can understand you not understanding that since you're probably been a Marquette fan for the last decade.

On defense, surely.  Inside players can take their defenders outside when they have an advantage out there, like Hauser does.

People are overreacting, Fischer is clearly the most talented inside player. Heldt might get there but he's certainly not there yet. And Hauser is not an inside player.

Fish e r is a big disappointment.  Hauser is great.  Held may become better than Fisher.

Inside game is not Hauser's game he looses some of his offensive strength by playing inside. Do not think Heldt will get to the level of Fischer.

Offensively, it's Luke without question. Defensively, while Hauser gets boards, that's largely because Luke and Heldt are boxing out effectively.

My real question is why Luke's shot-blocking has regressed. He was beastly in 2015 when he first got here, but his percentage has dropped each year since. It's not just that first ASU game either (5 blocks) as he had 3+ blocks in 12/24 games that first year. In the two years since, he's blocked 3+ shots in a game only 7 total times.

Obviously defending for a big is more than just blocking shots, but I think this is indicative of Luke being a much better defender in a zone than in man. We funneled attackers into him and it allowed him to operate in a more limited space without having to come outside to defend as often. However while Luke thrives in a zone, I'm not sure many other players here do. Just not enough length.

I've wondered if he fears fouls too much now.

Dr. Blackheart

Opposing coaches game-plan to neutralize Luke on offense and defense.  Gard game-planned for Hauser.  Pretty sure no coach has game-planned for Matt.

I like Matt because he overhustles has talent, which is his role.

and can actually get a rebound. But heldt is starting to come along like how he's played the last few games

Don't they all play inside this time of year?

Unless they are being punished.  Mind games.
