Guys there has to be something else going on with HC other than defenses figuring him out. He missed a layup that was a kinda foul. Also, at the georgetown game he airballed a 3. Also he is dribbling the ball off his foot about once a game. Does he have some sort of mental block?

GGGG

I'm sure part of it is mental.

But let's not read too much into it.  He's a sophomore hitting a slump.  It happens to everyone.  Look at JJJ's game log when he was a sophomore.  Or Rowsey's.  Or Frank Kaminsky's.  It will happen next year with Howard and Hauser.

It's just part of the process.

brewcity77

Do we really need another "What's wrong with Haani?" thread? The kid has had two off games. That's it. Now suddenly he's broken?

The other new narrative is that he's terrible against high majors. I've looked for evidence of that and not really found it. He was good against Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh, and Wisconsin and okay against Michigan.

Galway Eagle

Wonder if the scholarship covers access to sports psychologists to get rid of the yips
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

MerrittsMustache

He looks like a guy who tried to re-work his shooting mechanics since he shoots a set shot. Now he's thinking too much and hoping it goes in as opposed to just letting it fly with confidence. JJJ and Blue looked similar during different stretches in their MU career. Haanif will get it straightened out.

This is 100% and I was going to post something to this effect. Basically Haanif is thinking rather than reacting right now. It's pretty typical in a sophomore year where his role and mechanics are both changing. As he gets more repetition his offense will come.

On a scale of sitting on a beach drinking a free old fashioned to riding shotgun with my mother in law while she drives on an icy road after drinking an old fashioned.....I'm somewhere around sitting on a beach while having to pay for my old fashion when it comes to Haanif and his offense.

Thanks for another informative thread. We are all starving for more information on HC (the other threads aren't nearly enough).

So, are mental issues the 2016 "walking boot"?

HC is a very good player. Going through some growing issues as he tries to round his game. He'll be alright.

Strangely, i feel reassured.  Thank you.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Hey, this one hadn't even gone multiple pages or gone off on a normal scoop tangent before Heisy started his own, mis-spelled thread.   What the hell?

Hey, this one hadn't even gone multiple pages or gone off on a normal scoop tangent before Heisy started his own, mis-spelled thread.   What the hell?

Just stumbled across this by happenstance and it is an absolutely perfect example of what I have been arguing.

I only read about 1/3 of the threads here.  If the title does not grab me, I don't bother.  I get that a lot of posters here read every post but I would guess than most are like me and do not.

Yes this thread was about the same topic about Haanif that I started a new thread about.  But this thread died quickly.  Why?  Because "HC mental block" is ambiguous and easily overlooked.  The fact that this thread died quickly is evidence that is exactly what happened.

Had "life" given it a better title I would have read this thread, and so would a lot more that participated in my Haanif thread.  I would have most likely added to this instead of starting a new one.  But this got lost and I'm not wasting my title sorting through poorly worded titles and multi-page posts to figure out what is going on.

All that said, I get it, you want to make yourself feel better by short handing this to "I want clicks."  But I will repeat, it is not my job to figure out what crappily title threads are about.  I'm not wasting my time.  Label it correctly and I will add to it.  Otherwise, if I have a question or idea, like I did about Haanif's play, I will start a new thread.

What else could a thread titled "HC Mental Block" be about?  If you're interested in the topic of what is going wrong with Haanif mentally, there's a pretty obvious place to go discuss it, and it's labeled pretty clearly...

Maybe he read it as "H&R Block is mental" and figured he didn't want to go down a Jon Hamm rat hole?

Yeah either that or he's thinking Haanif created a mental depiction through art with an actual physical block in it?

Or that HC created some kind of AI and he's looking to avoid his new robot overlords

Tower ...

I love your post game thoughts, it is one of the best things here.  It is a great device to get a conversation going about the just completed game.

Like most hard core MU fans (everyone here is a hard core fan) I too get emotional about MU's play.  So when your posted your thoughts early under the title "Butt whoopin" I thought it was a thread to bitch about getting blown out.   I was not interested and in fact I posted that I left this site for 48 hours because I cannot stomach the whining.

I actually thought about looking for your thread before I left but I could not find it.  I did not associate Butt whoopin as it because it was started well before the game was over.

Titles matter, they really do ... even for you.

The fact that this thread had about 5 posts and disappeared before goldeneage bumped it on the 9th suggests most agree with me that it was not properly worded and therefore ignored and not your argument.

That fact that my better worded post has 36 replies and is still on topic suggests this is a topic many are interested in this topic.  And when the title clearly explained what the topic was about, they participated in earnest.

It is as simple as that.

Yukon, I apologize.   For whatever reason, I just enjoy yanking your chain way too much.    Failing on my part.    When I do my postgame thoughts this year, I have been trying to come up with word plays or succinct descriptions rather than just doing a generic post game title.   The butt whoopin was as succinct as I could be and summed up my resigned acceptance that MU was taken to the woodshed by a better team.     I get your point.   Ah, well.    Onward.

"Post Game -Butt whoopin" would be perfect

And I get that people like yanking my chain and I'm ok with it.  Just trying to plow though with a serious point.

The title was fine. This isn't the first and won't be the last time tower starts a thread before the game is over. He shouldn't have to hand-hold you through the threads. Everyone knows tower starts those threads, if you are looking around post-game and see a tower thread, it's pretty blatant to know what you're looking at.

So says the guy that reads every thread here.

This site has hundreds and hundreds of posters here that only read a small fraction of the threads.  Most of them do not know Tower does this.  The question is does Tower want them to participate or does Tower want it to be a thread for a small circle of those in the know?

The biggest problem in business writing is it is written in jargon from one gear-head to another gear-head.  This site has the tendency to be heavy duty gear-heads speaking in code to other heavy duty gear-heads thus losing reagular human beings.

Again this thread is a perfect example.,  It died after 5 posts.  That is not because no one wanted to talk about Haanif's game.  Instead it had a crappy title that caused it to die.

well this game ain't going to help his confidence. kid looks like he just doesn't have it

Mr. Sand-Knit

Looks like the lack of confidence has now reached the FT line.  I like his game n think he needs to be out there does alot well but missed 3-4 fts in the last 45 secs and almost created a shot clock violation passing up a wide open 16 footer

Disagree ... he lacks confidence right now.  He is not even looking to shoot.

He needs a breakout game to get past this.  Hope it is this weekend and not next year.
