Stick the knife in

Local sports talk show, talking to John Bielein about recruiting 5 stars... "look at Henry Ellenson at Marquette.  Did he take them  to the tourney?". Wow.  Now a cautionary tale for other coaches.

Beilein knows you don't have to go after burger boys for that skill set. Well, not that kind of burger boy anyway.

He mentioned Simmons.  His larger point is that he will take a 5 star that fits with how he does things.

I don't know how to take this since Belein has offered, and missed, on a number of 5 stars.  Including one and done Jaylen Brown, where Michigan was leading on the Crystal Bowel until he committed to Cal.

So because a 5 star can't take a very young or incomplete roster and carry the team to tournament berth by himself you shouldn't take 1 when you can get 1?

Got it.......

Lots of 5 stars end up staying more then 1 year.......it just didn't happen to be the case with Henry.

Just talking his own book, doin' some jawboning. He would have taken Ellenson in a heartbeat and he knows it. Same with pretty much every 5*.

MU had nothing much last year if Henry did not come, but it does set the program back a little.  I would love to have a 5 star in two years or so when the roster has
experienced players that are good, a bunch of frosh are tough unless you are Duke and Kentucky.  Does not even work that well with Kansas.  UCLA is a perfect
example how it can work.
