People have an issue with Wojo not working hard enough to get the fans fired up about the team and the season and then when he responds to a question asked about the fans and he says he hopes they will come out and support the team every game people have a problem with the response.

Should Wojo have said the team is ready and willing to play in an empty gym? Or maybe recommend MU fans sell their tickets to the highest bidder and let the BC be entirely red?
two years ago it was almost more red than gold. :o

I think there are posters who either didn't watch the video, or are hearing what they want to hear — instead of what Wojo actually said. Here's the original question and verbatim response:

Reporter:
There's going to be a huge crowd there on Saturday. What does that mean to you, and what does that mean to the program to see those kinds of fans in the stands, being that it's going to be loud, it's going to be an exciting environment?

Wojo:
Yeah, you know, I think our guys'll be really excited about it. You know, to have that kind of support, for this game and then hopefully every game after, is important. It makes a difference. It makes a difference. We appreciate the support we get here. We anticipate Saturday being the best crowd we've had this season. And hopefully it's one we can build off of.

Where exactly is Wojo complaining about fan support? Yes, he wants fans to support the team. Name me a coach that doesn't. I don't read a single critical word about the Marquette fan base.

To be fair there are exactly two posters who implied Wojo said something negative.  One retracted and said he must have heard it wrong and the other just said it is ridiculous 'if' he did it.

Other than that I see a discussion about attendance and what else could be done.

However there are ~5 posts now about said 2 negative posts....

Good point. I think Wojo has his strengths and weaknesses, like anybody. Talking with the press is not currently among his strengths.

That's a fair criticism. Wedge's close-to-the-vest-cool-calm-and-collected style is a clear contrast to Buzz — who talks at length in a stream-of-consciousness-here's-what's-on-my-mind-right-at-this-moment-and-why kind of way. Wojo looks disinterested or uncomfortable in front of a microphone. Buzz seems to live for it.

What's not fair is attributing something to Wojo that he never said. That's all. Apologies if my response felt over the top.

Wojo's mind games finally caused all the students to transfer

And the administration has talked to Wojo about this.  At Marquette Madness he was jumping up on the press tables to get the crowd excited.  He knows its his repsonsibility and he's working on it.  Never misses a pep rally, etc. but is learning to be more of a cheerleader.

I, for one, am disappointed that Wojo isn't at the gate collecting my ticket, offering me a firm handshake and then ushering me to my seat before each game. This school used to have ideals. Clearly they are losing focus on them.

I'm with you, aren't we entitled and privileged enought to expect nothing less?

You must be a Millennial.

Seton Hall is using the entire Rock for the Nova game.
Our goal should be to be good enough that they use the whole place for us.

Less than ten students lined up outside BC at 7:15. Ton of work needs to be done to put some juice into this program.

Well...they are the defending National Champion and currently ranked #1 in the country. I do not disagree with your point, but I'm sure may Pirate alumni would argue that they should be good enough to fill the Rock for all their games.

Win games. Compete. That will get the juices flowing. When this program has won in the past fans have turned out in large numbers, both students and everyone else. The formula is simple, getting there is the hard part.

Cost savings.  Wojo only needs to buy one dozen donuts

I don't know if it's the cause but MU put a timeline up for the game and it said "Students lining up outside the BC 8AM." I am not worried about student support.

I'd like Wojo to be more enthused, but I'd rather him be himself and be comfortable, not feigning enthusiasm because his boss told him to.  It will come off as phony.
