I shouldn't have even brought it up — there are reasons beyond strength of opponent that go into our non-conference schedule, especially with UW-M.

You know what would really make sense? A December tournament with MU, UW-Mad, UW-MKE & UW-GB.
We should definitely discuss this idea.  In depth.  In great depth.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

So, Bumstead spanked da Wolverines on der home court, hey?

Playing UW-M this past Saturday night would have been a heck of a lot better than HBU.

I would take a 3-1 / 4-1 any time.  Being able to play a road game across the street from your home venue is a great way to game the RPI system.

My 2 cents...MU needs to step up a bit with their schedule...it doesn't have to be brutal...just a couple more decent teams. Why do we do this...is it $? Is it the fear of losing? Why?

I find myself hoping all these teams overachieve besides us. In general not looking too good.

But I still enjoy listening and watching MU so the poor schedule not losing fans I guess.

We have a good schedule this year.

We have a relatively better schedule this year but not a good schedule. Speaking of nonconf.

I don't mind our sked this year.  I would just like to see some of the money we spend on basketball get put into the sked.

1) Paying extra for some recognizable Midwest or East Coast buy teams --- I'm sure Loyola Chicago has a price.  Same with New Hampshire, etc.
2) Giving UWM one game every 3-4 years
3) Always playing two Marquee Nov / Dec games at home

Lets face it, TV has ruined being a season ticket holder on a number of levels:

1) Every game is televised and in HD, so the incentive to go to every game is down
2) The best non conf match-ups are created for neutral sites

Due to this, I think it is incumbent upon schools to invest more their home sked IF they want to grow the STH base.

Maybe this is what I'm feeling...not so much the schedule but the schedule at home...not seeing the key matchups except UW (which is big)...so maybe that's it.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

I am totally in favor of regional matchups with folks like Loyola.  But I believe they are strongly discouraged from participating in buy games and someone else can do a much better job than me in explaining why 3-1 deals aren't in MU's economic interest.  We're not the only one's that schedule the way we do.  And candidly, we've been less attractive for the buy game crowd these last couple years.

Under current RPI, I'd be pleased w a road game at Loyola

I think times will soon be a'changin tho... schools, be careful with your contracts.

1.  I still feel unclean after watching this.
2.  KR, get well before Sunday.
3.  Conversely, he wasn't actually missed tonight.
4.  Poor shooting the last 10 minutes kept MU under 100.    Dang it.
5.  I got nothing.   Ranks with Mississippi Valley State and Grambling for worst opponent in recent memory.

I don't think your title creativity has gotten enough praise. Well done.

Found the 4 PG lineup amusing.

By Western Carolina?  Must be, MU doesn't have 4 point guards.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
