Defense has been the real issue, but the offensive usage patterns developing are a real cause for concern.

Nice work, and absolutely accurate.

The other thing that stands out from the chart is that Duane's ORating is barely above 100.  For those calling for more minutes for Duane, I'm not sure we'd see anything better than what we saw last year, which wasn't particularly good.  I will say that his defense looks markedly improved this year.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

I probably would have added in the eFG% as well, though some of those look a bit deceptive.

Right now, the offense should be running through Cheatham and Fischer, and I think Duane should be getting more run. Howard and Hauser both look good, but are definitely more three point threats than anything else (combined they've made 4 shots from inside the arc and 24 outside).

I'd trade Reinhardt's performances thus far for Carlino or Ellenson in a heartbeat, but I'm not ready to give up on the kid yet. He definitely needs to be reined in, though. Look at his past efficiency. At USC, he was inefficient in 2015 taking a ton of shots, but when he dialed it back in 2016 his efficiency went way up. Gotta find that Reinhardt. The staff needs to make him understand that shoot first, ask questions later isn't what this offense requires.

Yup, this is the crux. The team legitimately needs him on the floor for about 60-70% of the minutes. But at the current usage and effectiveness, he's hurting more than he's helping. The team isn't relying on him to score every possession. Need Lockett, not Carlino.

Great article as always.  Six point guards on the roster just trying to make plays versus understanding their (in some cases new) roles.  Add in JjJ who is trying to establish his senior identity as "the guy".  The team and role identity has to shake itself out

Very insightful reading of why the offense hasn't always clicked.  Thanks, Andrei.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
