I haven't enjoyed watching a Marquette team this much since the 2012 season (the 2013 Elite 8 team wasn't as easy on the eyes, despite results). So while it is too soon to confidently predict this is a good or great team, the makings for a fun season are all there.*

*Barring an injury to Luke.

*Barring an injury to Luke.  - is right!

and on a local scale...Barring Luke foul trouble in any given game.

I predict we will be able to point directly to Luke foul trouble being the cause of at least 1 loss this year.

Not meant to be a slam on anyone or Luke or anything...just a real concern.

I'm still expecting that there will be times Heldt is asked to contribute and he will produce. He doesn't have to be a star, but I do still think he will be able to fill in productively at times.

I hope so...its one of those nervous elements...want the best for him but don't trust it will go that way.

There was some type of pre-season Wojo quote about Heldt being the "biggest surprise" or "best progress"...so I hoping that pans out.

What kind of lives do you people live if you have to wait to know whether something is worth having gotten excited for to actually be excited for that something.

Personally I'm excited every year before the season starts, even when I know our team will be pretty awful (2 years ago).

Lennys Tap

I was moderately excited before the season (thought it was 50/50 for a bid to the NCAAs). Don't want to be a jinx, but I'm more excited now. The team (and Wojo) look capable and confident. AND damn fun to watch. Go Warriors!

Funny, how much better a team looks and plays when it has guards.  :)

Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

It's never too early to be excited about Marquette basketball. I've been excited to see this team in action since the end of last season. And I like what I've seen so far.

3 point snipers are deadly, they open up the entire floor, especially when you have 3 on the court, its been awhile since we could keep a defense honest.  Michigan will be a test

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Great article Andrei. Definitely not too early to be excited. Just a little too early to bet my life savings on Marquette making the tourney

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Don't have time to read the article just yet, but quick answer:

YES. And I'm an eternal optimist.
Here is why: last year we started the season by losing a few but then went to NYC and won the tourney. Everyone was freaking out! We just beat Ben Simmons and LSU! Mu is awesome.
Then we stumbled, had a few poor losses and missed the tourney.

While I am super stoked, I am practicing cautious optimism.

To use a 4Never analogy:  The past three years of impotency was a drought of epic proportions that not even Google images could cure.  A case of blue balls would have been a welcome sight.

Now, a little blue dose of optimism helps satisfy and recall the prime days of male youth, enough to wet the appetite for a yearning for the apex of past climaxes.  The promise of the four hour side effect is enough to temporarily recharge the battery looking forward, even if that long lasting condition never in fact arrives, but at least there is now a sense of firmness for the future.

The point being:  It is nice that Hope has returned.  And she looks damn good after all these years.
