Brilliant move. Really smart.

I love that we have heard that he was one of, if not the, hardest working guys in the weight room over the offseason but still knows he has a ways to go and, seemingly, loves Marquette and understands where he is at as a player.  It can't be easy for kids who are stars in high school to not be a star at the next level.  Good for Sacar, good for Marquette.

Sorta a strange move. They must really be adopting the small ball idea - figured he'd see decent number of minutes at the 4, but if Wojo felt he was hardly going to see the floor , it's a good move.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Hope you weren't being sarcastic.

I think it's a great move.  Sacar is only 3 months older than Sam Hauser and will now be in his natural class balancing out the roster.  Love it.

Really going to be a very good player.

Takes me back to when he played John Dawson for only 5 minutes. Wojo is learning, save the players eligibility if you see no use for him currently.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Like the decision. I've heard good things about Sacar and think he can develop into a fine player. He was likely the 11th or 12th man this season, but could be a valuable role player next year.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Who was our last non-injury, non-transfer red shirt?
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

No no, I really think it's a great move. This will be great next year for sacar.

Sorry if it came off sarcastic.

PGsHeroes32

Great move.

He may have been helpful playing the 4 but realistically I don't think he was gonna get minutes.

Seems the plan will be to just play shooters at the 4 so Sandy and Sam will snag any minutes that are available.

What I really like about this is I feel that the minutes Sacar will be trying to snag would come from guys like Reinhardt, Johnson, Sandy, and Duane. This gives Anim an extra year to develop, and by the time he's expected to contribute (junior year), those players will have graduated.

I was going to say something similar.  If he is patient, minutes will open up for him next year.  Hey we all knew he was a project coming in.

Sacar is a committed team guy. Given the 4 years out of 5 rule this basically demonstrated his commitment to the program as any transfer out prior to him graduating is now pretty much off the table. I'll look forward to his contribution as a RS Sophomore next year.

tower912

There is a backlog of players with similar size and skillsets to be plugged in at the 3/4.   If he takes a year off and improves, a year from now there will no longer be a JjJ and KR in front of him.   As long as he is on board with it, this is a great move.

He could still graduate transfer.

Amil McGaskil (sp) redshirted after his sophomore year. I cannot think of one that came after, but there may of been.

Didn't John Polonowski red shirt

Mortenson.  Hopefully, Sacar uses his time more productively.

And in the long run (he spent a few good years in the NBA) it worked out well for him.   :)
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

There might not be JJJ or KR, but Cain will take one of the places, not sure yet if Anim will be good enough, year off will help.  For him, the extra year is blessing if he
takes advantage of his schooling, and graduates with a good major.
