Big East Coast Bias, a Big East centric blog, has voting on the top 5 players that played for MU the last 5 years. Feel free to vote and/or argue about it.

I hope someone votes for Derrick so Ner's head explodes somewhere.

I went in no particular order: DJO, JFB, Jae, Vander, and Ox

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Is jimmy still within five? It's been five seasons since he left.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

I went Vander, Ox, JFB, Predator, and Hank

I will take 3 years of DJO over 1 year of Hank every day of the week.

Similarly, I'll take 1 year of Hank over 4 years of DG. But, that's just me.

+1.  Not to mention the question is who the 5 best players in the past 5 years have been, not who left the biggest mark on the Marquette basketball program in their career.  It's pretty clear Hank was 1 of the 5 best players.

That is a better discussion.

I struggled with Ellenson. He will be the better player. But I'd take senior djo, senior Jae, senior JFB, and junior Vander over freshman Hank every time. I went back and forth between senior ox and freshman Hank. In the end I picked ox because I really don't like high usage low efficiency players and that's what freshman Hank was.

Look at what Freshman Hank played with versus any version of DJO, let alone senior DJO. I think Hank is the 5th out of 5 but given what he did on the court I don't think there is any doubting that he was a better player for MU in a vacuum than DJO in a vacuum, in my opinion.

Depends on how you define better. Better talent? Better leader? Better contributor to the program? Better results? Better liked? Better legacy?

Judging by talent alone, Henry belongs in the top five. No question. Ox, Vander and DJO aren't even close. The same goes for results — the wins and losses are what they are. There's no gray area whatsoever. If that's how you judge Henry, there have been better players at MU in the past five years.

All the other factors are simply a matter of preference.
