Would you rather see MU win the TBT or the NIT?

I realize this is Apples versus Oranges . Seems like people are really enjoying this TBT run and the TBT games are on ESPN so there is some visibility for MU.

The fun of the TBT is that its happening now when nothing else is happening except for a few and far between recruiting tidbits.

The downside of winning the NIT is that you missed the NCAA.

Too strange a poll for me to vote in.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

This could be a close election and we may need your vote.

I voted TBT, which is the dumb vote. I based my vote on how much fun it was to watch MU ball in July. Winning the NIT would of been more of a benefit to the program under the current MU coach than MU alumnae not connected with Wojo winning the TBT.

Let's face it, TBT is a great idea.  The pot will grow year to year.  I could see a team with Kobe / Ray Allen / Vince Carter / et. al. walking away with the $2m in a year or two - just because they can.

After the past three years, I said NIT. This is great fun, but still a substitute for our regularly scheduled season.

A vote for tbt is a vote for nit to win

My vote NIT.  The tbt is history and fun, but the NIT is MU history TO be made!

I don't think $$ sufficient to get chick and I to Maui is coming if we win the NIT.   ;D

NIT is the easy answer.
I judge on how I feel when MU is eliminated from one or the other.

Galway Eagle

At this point nit but I have a feeling that this tournament is on the up and will eventually be a pretty big deal

I don't want my Warriors in the NIT. Period.

Once upon a time the NIT was a big deal.

Now it is for losers.

My Warriors aren't losers.

Yeah, but we have to nip this one in the bud.

Fast.

I voted TBT because 1) That's a significant paycheck for the former players and 2) the goal for the NCAA team is to not be in the NIT.

NIT is taking your sister to the prom. A shameful, pathetic, and hateful pile of sh1t wrapped in wonder bread with a spritz of cheese wiz.

No thank you.

TBT was a meaningless exhibition for a few bucks that filled an otherwise desolate summer basketball on TV landscape.   A pleasant reminiscence of players past.    An NIT championship indicates that there is hope for the future.

Not sure I agree that running the table in an also-ran tournament is an accurate barometer of impending success. Not only are there too many undefined variables but winning against mediocre to fair talent doesn't correlate to future competitiveness against superior skills.

Marquette needs to get back to the Dance. Anything less is failure.

Is a program's goal to have their former players win money in an exhibition tournament?   ;)

For the most part I agree. And I would also vote NIT. But I "recruited" voters at the start and I actually would have won $10K if either Marquette or Utah won the tournament. So I got pretty invested in it once both of those teams made the final 8.

I mean, if you don't differentiate between winning it in a tournament and earning it with a contract to play, the program is trying to get the players to the point where they make money playing basketball, right?

(Yes, I realize you were joking.)

The NIT might be taking your sister to prom, but at least it means something.
TBT is fun, but it's completely meaningless.

Tell that to the guys who can make $100,000+ just by winning 6 pickup basketball games.

Coleman

I will always be more excited about an event with the actual Marquette basketball team rather than a team with former Marquette basketball players.

Its a small but an important distinction. I enjoyed watching the TBT, but it was just a fun distraction.
