Nigel is no idiot. When he said "If you take me third", I'm sure he meant with their third pick late in the 1st round.

Nigel is not a very mature individual and this interview kinda shows that.

Exactly.  People fell in love with the cute interviews where he "didn't realize the mic was on" while talking about how good looking a female journalist was and using all the cute vocabulary words.  Awesome.  But he's got the biggest case of Vander Blues since Vander Blue was looking for any reason to leave after every season he was in school.  Lucky for him, he could go through the draft process and be told by NBA scouts and GMs to head back to Madison for his senior year.  The question is whether he's smart enough to take their advice.

I don't necessarily agree with that statement. He has shown plenty of leadership and responsibility on the court.

But he's not ready for the NBA and talk of playing the '2' seems way, way off. Kinda like when Vander talked about playing the point. He tried to turn himself into a wing last year and that didn't go too well.

If he's willing to take 5,000 shots a day...shouldn't he already be doing it?

I will stand by what I said.  He is not a very mature individual.  I make that statement based on personal interactions with a friend.

You don't understand.  Coursework at UW is simply too rigorous and time-consuming to allow time for that many shots.

Nobody shoots 5,000 shots a day - it was a dumb remark by Nigel.

At a shot every 5 seconds, you are talking about 7 hours a day - so yes, courses are too time consuming to allow for 5,000 shots a day.

And 5 seconds per shot is generous if you don't have someone rebounding for you.

Hell, back in my MU years, I could barely drink 5,000 shots a day!

Nigel told people, "I'm not sure" about the NBA draft for months when he had a plan to declare all along.

That said, his mindset was always this: "I will declare. If feedback is that I'll go first round, I'm staying. If feedback is I'm a second rounder, I'm going back to uw, madison-extension for another year.

Now, I believe the CONSENSUS is he's not a first rounder. However, if he's got a single team in his ear even suggesting he's a first rounder, that may be enough to have him go with his "I'll go first round, I'm staying" game plan that has been in place for a long time.

Don't know if he's gonna here something close enough to allow him to put in his mind that he's a first rounder.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

So looks like everyone missed the joke here.

Nigel is a nice dude, and much smarter than you guys are giving him credit for

We'll see how smart Nigel is in a few days. If he doesn't take the Vander Trail To Nowhere, he's smart. If he leaves Buckyland, perhaps not so much.

Selfishly, as a Bucky hater, I hope he goes.

I don't know how smart it is to stay or to go. I know nothing about his family situation.

Like you, I don't think he will be in the NBA next year if he goes, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad decision.

As a Warrior fan, I hope he is not in Madison next year as well. Probably a Top Ten team if he stays.

Finally, a year where becky will underachieve vs. where the consensus has them.

Is there a high demand for an undersized forward who can't jump and struggles to shoot or handle the ball?

Exactly.

Nigel's only shot at the NBA is if he improves from 3-point range.
