Ha, if anything, recruits are usually more effusive in their description of a visit. This bodes well!

Ha, thought the exact same thing! Of course, that probably means he'll commit to Providence before EOD today.

bilsu

Maybe he will decide to take more visits, because at this point it does not look like either visit made up his mind.

Stretchdeltsig

If he waits much longer, he will end up sitting out for the year.

Based on a couple tweets?  Cmon...

He visited Providence last and did not commit immediately.  So the longer he takes the better it is for MU.

Do you agree?

Most likely we will hear in the next 72 or so hours. Not really stressing about this...he'll announce when he announces.

Clearly, you are Scoop's version of the Maytag repairman.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Don't get me wrong, I think adding another big man is a massive need, but at this point, it's probably decided. He took his visits, he'll decide this week, and there's really not many tea leaves out there to read until he comes out with it. My bigger question would be if there is a backup plan in place. At this point, after missing out on guys like Gill and Fernando (though he may be back in play for 2017) it seems there isn't.

Have to say, leaving that schollie vacant would be a bad look.

Why's that?

Pretty sure we spent hundreds if not thousands of posts already on that topic.

yes, and I thought we concluded that banking a schollie represents failure.

Could the backup plan be asking Wally back?

What would be a failure?

And no.

Maybe he is working with Markus Howard's brother to make his announcement film.  Which by the way I thought was very well done. We are Marquette!

That scholarship would still be available for a mid season transfer. So it is not entirely wasted.

A mid-season transfer is not eligible until the second half of the season after next.  Does nothing for next season.

Bank a schollie is the same as a self-imposed penalty.  NCAA rules allow 13 scholarship players.  So go into the season with less put you at a disadvantage.  Really not much different than an NCAA penalty.  So if you keep having less than 13 players, might as start cheating.  What is the worst that will happen?  They take away a schollie or two?  We do that to our self every year!

Leaving the spot open, after sending Wally away, reflects very badly on Wojo ... like last year's Miller/Lee debacle.

Yes the  mid season will not be eligible immediately , but you still need the scholarship available to sign them up.  All I am saying it is not totally wasted.

It's not the same as a self-imposed penalty.  And it isn't a disadvantage.  Duke won the NCAA Championship with, what, 8 or 9 scholarship players?  Just think, 12 is a disadvantage, imagine what Duke would've done with 4 or 5 more scholarship guys.

Why does it reflect badly on Wojo?  Asking the last man on the bench who is earning a full scholarship to make the same dedication as players 1-12 on the team who are receiving nothing more?  If anything, that reflects positively on Wojo.  No preferential treatment.  If you want to earn your scholarship you have every chance to do so.  Just do what is asked of every player.

What Miller/Lee debacle?  Not landing 2 big time recruits who more or less every program in America would've taken?  Yeah, what a debacle.

While I agree not landing Young after asking Wally off the team is a bad look, what about not landing Miller/Lee last year was a debacle?

Shouldn't have shown Wally the door if you're not gonna fill the 13th spot. That said, I think we're in good shape with Young.

As for not landing Miller/Lee, I don't think debacle is the best word - but Wojo screwed the pooch shooting for the moon and coming up short.  Last years team badly needed a shooter, and there were other grad transfers that could have been had.  He needed to widen his horizons a bit, especially with a Hank a virtual lock to be a 1 and done.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Sharpie

I certainly hope we get Young. There is plenty of playing time for him to learn and improve. I think he would fit our system with the limited videos I have seen of him. I think he is a much better player than his rankings indicate although that's coming from an armchair scout like myself.

It is the origin of the Heisenberg/Big Daddy feud. Which Hberg firmly lost....so its a personal debacle?
