When I look at all these pictures, it reminds me why I am a Marquette Fan. Our team has had some exciting players.

Awesome slack.  It's not quite clear enough but I might be in the background. Was wearing a bright yellow oxford and sitting about 1/2 up the MU dedicated section behind the bench.

Classic unis, classic Al.

Anyone know when this was taken during the season?  I don't think that Al is wearing his NCAA title game suit.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

That was the idea. Marquette has given me some of my most memorable experiences as a sports fan. I wasn't even 7 years old when MU won the national championship, but I've watched the title game since and appreciate all the great coaches, teams and players who have come before.

Hopefully there are many more highlights to come. Can't wait until Marquette Madness.

Wade for President

Can't think of a better pic (outside of hoisting a national championship trophy) than this one of Wade dunking over a 7 footer.  Got this one blown up and framed.

My buddy took this picture while sitting on the baseline.  I remember him saying to me when we got to the car after the game "I think I got a good one."

That pic was the origination of my love affair with #3.

At the time of the draft, Dwyane's max vert was listed at 35" — just a few inches shy of the Dominic James' high mark. Either one is astounding to think about. Great photo.

I wish there was video of this dunk. Our seats were in 410, across the way. I watched him drive baseline, saw where he took off (with Badiane going to contest) and thought "there's no f*cking way."

Just a ridiculous play. Too bad the game wasn't televised.

Some great photos in this thread. Thanks to all posting. I was waiting for this one to come up ... and I wasn't disappointed!

This has to be my favorite from at least the last 10 years.

I'm surprised nobody posted anything from Rivers' 1981 shot to beat ND (sorry, only a link: http://archives.chicagotribune.com/1981/01/11/page/49/article/marquette-wins-on-30-footer) or Whitehead's winner vs UNCC.

I like how that image was taken from the untrimmed press sheet.

Nice!

BTW, he was Glenn then. I was in two classes with him, and none of us called him Doc. Majerus gave him the nickname but only occasionally called him by that, and rarely in public.

I used to see him in Chicago for games vs the Bulls (when he was both player and coach), and I'd address him by Glenn, just for old time's sake.

This  is special. '77 last second shot ...Whitehead, over Cornbread Maxwell.
My bro worked in TV and a thermal fax wire photo came in to the TV station (to my knowledge---it was never published in any newspaper)....taken by a photog below the basket as the ball left Whiteheads hand. Note at the top the clock shows 1 second. At the bottom, Al autographed it for my bro (b-day present from bro to me) and Al looked at the photo for a prolonged moment, smiled to my brother, and AL said..."I guess this proves it"...(ie that the shot was good)
I am very sorry this is such bad quality...but this is sealed under a montage frame with others (about 36" by 30") and I had to scan right from the framed pic and convert to jpeg. In person the pic with the ball out (whitehead's empty hand) and the one second on the clock are clear as day...I guess this proves it. lol
Its very special to me, and I am so very glad to share it here

I believe this photo is from moments after that game-winning shot. Pure exuberance.

By Angle and Position...Almost looks like its taken by the same photog
who took mine.

Absolutely correct.  I still refer to him as Glenn and don't ever think I've called him Doc to his face.

That's a much better caption than the one I came up with. (Although "We are Marquette!" applies to just about anything.)

Anyone got a pic if Glenn and his tomahawk dunk?  I tried google search with no luck.

I think he's a really good coach and I pull for the Clippers out West, but that team is just missing something. Now, of course, it's missing its 2 best players. But even when healthy, there's something not quite right there.
