I might not agree with the plan Vander had, but cannot say it was a lousy plan for him. He might be far happier with his life and decision than others judging his decision. That said, other than having a preseason plan the similarities with HE end there. HE is going to be NBA starting at day one and will be there a long time.

The only way I think you can argue that staying in college for an extra year would be beneficial monetarily is if you believe you will save enough wear and tear on your knees to allow you to play another year at the end of your NBA career, where your salary would be higher than at the beginning. 

That is too much of a gamble for me.  If it was only about maximizing career earnings, you go to the NBA if you're going to be a lottery pick.
