For a kid that MU never really recruited, I'm rooting hard for Trev Anderson at Green Bay. Kid is tough and can really play.

100% agree. Tough as nails

CongratuLations Sam.  Can't wait to watch h you play at Marquette!

Congrats to Sam. Can't wait to see him in a Marquette uniform — and hope we don't ever lose sight of what it means to land the best basketball players in Wisconsin. (Feels like we've almost come to expect it.)

The Badgers are a top 25 program, and they have a massive advantage in interest/publicity/alumni as the state's largest public university. Beating them out for top talent is huge.

Since Wisconsin's Mr. Basketball started in 1982, Wisconsin has gotten 9 of them, Marquette has 8.  (If you include Luke.)  But Marquette holds an 8-7 lead from 1990 onwards.  Marquette has had two of those eight transfer out though.  (Maymon and Christopherson.)

Litehouse

Congrats to Sam! Back-to-back championships and undefeated season.  Sam had the game high of 23, including an awesome alley oop dunk on an in-bounds play.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Congrats to the elder Hauser bro. Can't wait to see him in blue and gold.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Have teammates ever shared the award before?  Pretty cool.

How come Anderson didn't get more high div 1 attention?  Height?

Cool stats. Is there a site with info on the history of the award? (Unless you're recalling all that from memory.)

Congrats Sam! Unbelievable achievement for the young man. Will he see the floor next year? How about help up win enough games to enter the NCAA tourney? Will he help us win a national championship? I sure hope so. I think he's the wing-shooter we've been missing for a few years now. However, (expecting Henry to leave for NBA) believe we are missing a few horses down low... Step it up Wojo.

Thanks. I didn't realize Damon Key was Mr. Basketball — I thought McIlvane was.

This clip doesn't show the beginning of the play, but it's Joey making a lob in-bounds pass from behind the basket, and Sam streaking down the lane for the alley-oop dunk.

Am I reading this right...Henry will be the first ever Mr.Basketball drafted who went to Marquette? Interesting nonetheless.

GREAT POST CHICOS ABOUT WISCO PLAYERS OF THE YEAR. Many of them were flops.
Andy Polka, DeMarcus Phillips, Greg Brown, Brad Clark, Sam Okey, Greg Timmerman,
Chris Jones and Mike Johnson and others not worthy D-1 talent. Our state really doesn't
have top grade D-1 talent for 2016, outside of Sam and Anderson, T. Lucas and Nick
Wagner of G-E-T. I just hope we can get Joey Hauser. Becky's recruit, Kobe King looked
lost in the 2016 State Tourney as his team needed him to step up. He did not.
