That may be where they are rated by the numbers, but I think the question leads more to the perception of the quality of the league.  Where few would probably have them pegged for 5th.

That's the point.  The NCAA and the RPI (of the top teams) over-rated the Big10.  Teams like Monmouth would have finished top 4 in the Big10 and been locks for the tournament.

Based on perceived reputation more teams got into the NCAA than should have.  They got more respect than their 5th best conference rating.

I'll go further and say Saint Mary's/Gonzaga very well may have won the Big10 as opposed to being bubble teams.

Looking forward to the Syracuse v. Middle Tennessee State game.

Middle Tenn. St. is a top 20% 3 pt. shooting team.  Should have a good shot against the zone.

Yeah.  Can't count on them for anything.  Cuse shouldn't have been in the tourney.  Ugh.
You are right. But with izzo crapping the bed, that gives cheating baywine a path fotward.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Sorry to see Izzo and Company lose.  15 seeds can win if they are hot from 3.

Monmouth would have finished in the top 4 in the Big Ten?  Come on Forgetful, you say insane stuff on the other board, but this is ridiculous.  I like Monmouth, but they couldn't beat Army....or Canisius, lost to Iona twice, lost to Manhattan.   You think they are going to beat MSU, UW, IU, OSU, UM, Maryland, etc, on the road?  Very unlikely.  No way they go through that conference and finish 4th.  No way. Hell, they barely beat a terrible UCLA team this year who finished 11th in the Pac 12.

Fourth does sound a bit high.  Pomeroy, for what it's worth, would have Monmouth as the seventh best team in the Big 10.  Not too bad out of 14.

Yup, that's more like it...the bottom of the Big Ten was really bad.  RPI would also have them as 8th best, just barely ahead of Ohio State.....which went to the NIT....which is where Ohio State is.

I also wonder how Monmouth would handle the physicality of the Big Ten, night in and night out vs what they play against now.

Fourth was high.  But they would be above UW, who is not a good basketball team.  So They would be at worst 6th.

That's Tonny. Really good kid, met him a few times. He had to sit two years because of eligibility issues but stuck with it. Has one of the highest motors I've ever seen

Based on my opinion, which is the only thing anyone can rely on for such a statement.  Your opinion is different.  Neither of ours carries any more weight.

That's why I used data...two sources...so opinion becomes more grounded in data and educated.   :)

I love seeing Huggins about to stroke out.  Great game by SFA - totally rooting for them one more time.

AND ------ can you please take the UW/B1G love and defense someplace else?

Sorry.

I think the Huggins T was a makeup T for not calling the flagrant on the double foul.  Really strange sequence.

I hope Wojo has the guys watching Stephen F Austin saying "THAT is how you break a press."  Zero turnovers in twelve minutes.

Yup...took a risk...didn't pay off.

Stephen F. Austin was really impressive.  WVU is a tough tough team to beat.  I had them going far also.

Agree that it was a make up but it doesn't matter if it's a make up tech, a DUI, year of solitude in Manhattan KS, or covering up a player pushing his grandma down the stairs...i like to see him stroke out (and if the overly entitled WVU fans get popped at the same time, all the better).

With Stephen F. Austin's win over West Virginia on Friday night, the last remaining perfect NCAA tournament bracket has busted.

DatDudeCP, or Cole Parzych, had picked the first 25 games of the NCAA tournament correct in the NCAA March Madness Capital One Bracket Challenge, the official bracket game of the NCAA. Parzych was perfect through the Wisconsin win over Pittsburgh.
