This is as one sided of a reffing job as I've ever seen.

DJO's Jaw

This is one of the most obviously terrible ref jobs I've ever seen.

Silkk the Shaka

Unreal. Embarrassing for college hoops.

Are these refs from the Jim Burr school of officiating?

If I'm Butler's coach my message to the players at halftime is "If there's ANY contact between you and an MU player at either end of the court, GO TO THE GROUND!"

Absurd. The kid who got "fouled" after the 3 point shot was already laying on the ground before Luke ran into him because he fell. Jones pushes Cheatham away from him and Cheatham gets called for the foul. Fischer touches Chrabasz and he just lays down and there's a foul.

Take the damn skirts off.

In college basketball, in general, I would coach my players to fall down after any contact.  You fall, they will blow the whistle.

I hate blaming the refs, but there's no doubt they completely changed the flow of this game.

Butler played very well the last 12 minutes. But the refs totally set the tone and put the game in their hands in the first 8.

Thirded. I counted 3 terrible calls within a minute or two of each other, and each allowed Butler to walk away with 2 points they shouldn't have had. So,instead of being up 4 points they went up 10, to say nothing of advancing them toward the bonus and taking our guys out of the game. Those aren't trivial factors. I wonder if the refs have any idea about how poorly they're doing.

Chrabascz would make a phenomenal European soccer player

Butler was clearly the better team today.   But the officiating certainly helped them.

Obviously not why we lost but we got absolutely screwed in the 1st half. Multiple and ones for Butler that should have been offensive and so many missed calls on Butler. Just brutal.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

forgetful

It really seems this time of year that officials seem to be extremely biased towards bubble teams.  Its almost (wearing my tinfoil hat) as if the conferences say, give our bubble teams the benefit of the doubt...we need more teams in the tournament.

Grow up, all of you.

I don't care how bad the refs are, good teams adapt.

We didn't.

We lost.

Here's hoping we do some growing between now and next year.

WARRIORS DON'T WHINE!!!!! They win -- or at least they used to!

Fischer should have 0 fouls!!

It was bad officiating, but the one where Luke pushed the guy in the back on the airball, what the heck was Luke thinking?

WarriorPride68

I clicked on this thread thinking it was about Wojo getting calls from other schools :)

Glad it's about officiating, not ready for off season threads quite yet

Dr. Blackheart

In watching experienced Big East coaches like Wright and JT3 versus Wojo, they are constantly talking to the refs, including questioning every 50/50 call or violation, check this, check that.  Wojo coaches like he played, very mercurial on a few calls, but primarily focused on the play, into the game momentum.  Buzz's style was similar to Wojo's when he started, but he has evened out more.

I like Jay Wright and love the style his teams play, but he works the officials full time.  There wasn't a time out that an official wasn't in their team huddle answering some question. He was barking literally the whole game.

When Buzz had Wainwright, the calls evened out more I thought. Jerry would be talking to the refs pre-game, he would asking about their families, step aside during timeouts for a quiet conversation about a previous call or where the ball would be inbounded, at half time to talk to them on the side. If it wasn't his scout game, he may have been at the scorer's table instead of the team huddle. On the bench, he was always next to Buzz to keep him calm. Jerry's style was more low key. In Maui, he would be having a beer with Driscoll.

The fact is, the Big East officials are in a Club.  They are the same officials every year, so one has to pay and earn their dues with them. This is not to say they are not objective, but they are also human and respect seniority.  I remember the Badger game two years and Bo questioned a handful of calls that didn't go his way but he somehow got a review.  He was his obnoxious self, but I will be damned that he was right on every one. That was three or four possessions he got back.

Ardmore Mug

I would always point out to my wife, "look, Its Wainwright talking to the refs", after a bad or questionable call.  That way Buzz wasn't the bad guy and he could focus on the team.

ColinWeaver includes Simpson on his list of 10 worst refs in the college game.
