That 3 point foul was a joke, as was that last drive.

Of course, it looked like some of our guys under Buzz shooting the ball when we're up and no reason to shoot.  Good Lord.

Nevada233

I didn't understand why Cheatham shot it and Carter was fouled on the last drive. Hope y'all pull it out.

The Ellenson "foul"...the guy just fell.  Terrible call.

Super Flop... Just looked at the standings. My god the Big East is very good this year..

Need new refs, awful poor officiating

Earl Tatum

Where does the BE get these refs? But we WON! WOW!

Well if these guys end up being as good as we were under Buzz and better than we were under Crean we'll all be happy. Good Lord.

So was The 4th foul they called on Dunn that bailed Hanif out. Lot's of bad calls - both ways.

jaygall31

goes both ways. JJ travelled on his 3. Switched pivot feet. Whew.

As most of you know, I rarely criticize the refs. I know how tough it is, and getting all wound up about them doesn't help anything.

But that might have been the worst officiated game I've seen all season. Had to be two dozen truly awful calls (or non-calls). Thankfully, they sucked regardless of which team they were dealing with, although it did seem we got the worst of it most of the game.

To be good, a team simply has to persevere through poor officiating.

Buzz? Not Crean aina

I personally liked then switching the foul away from Dunn upon "review", prolonging his game 5+ minutes as well as Bentil being immune to calls after receiving his 3rd.

Luke's 4th was atrocious.  We received some bad calls our way.  The refs were awful all around, but we had no star players protected like Providence.

As was his first. Completely clean block.

Luke's 5th was a foul--that's it.

Yes he did, no question about it.  Then again, if that phantom foul on HE isn't called, there isn't a 2OT for JJ to travel.   ;)

Buzz? Not Crean right

I don't recall it during TC, but I'm sure it happened.  I'm talking about two games in particular during the BW era where we had leads, with the ball and shot clock and the guys decided to attack the rim when the game was to be salted away.  That's what I was recalling.  The last one being at Louisville.

Happened once in 6 years under Buzz - Buycks was the guilty party. No doubt you ripped him and Burt new ones (dumb Juco, low basketball IQ, etc.). Hopefully Wojo will have as much success as Buzz did before this happens again.

The non-call on Traci's drive was inexcusable. I really don't understand that. It has to be called. "Don't allow the refs to decide the outcome of a game." Whatever. Traci did exactly what he should have done - attacked the rim. He got fouled on his drive then again, more blatantly, when he shot.

Someone explain this to me. Both games in Milwaukee: at the end of one game Billy Garrett drives, gets a phantom foul called and wins the game; at the end of one game, Traci Carter drives, gets BLATANTLY fouled and no call.

Why the unnatural carnal knowledge do we consistently lack a homecourt advantage with the refs?? Even outside of those two end of game situations.

Ellenson turned and hit him with his butt. I think it was a foul, but to me it was more of a block out than on the shot. I think it should of been two free throws instead of three.

TallTitan34

Carter foul should be impossible to miss. Defender riding him as he drives and hits his arm when he shoots.

That's all time bad.

Yeah, the interesting thing about that one too, was Dunn had a very clear armbar he was using on that drive.  I thought the Providence players got away with quite a bit of armbars playing defense throughout the game.  Though, that could very well be my biased view on that.

Also, I think my very least favorite call the whole game was the blocking foul on Sandy.  Sandy was outside the restricted area and the ref was staring him down and should have been able to tell that.  But what gets me the most about this, and I've noticed it quite a lot this year with Big East refs in general, was the ref waited to make the foul on a shot, after the shot was missed.

I don't remember seeing so many shooting fouls called so late and until the shot was clearly a miss.

Windyplayer

Carter was just hacked, no question. To not get that call at home is appalling.

It's the old "refs don't want to decide the game" deal ... although by not calling an obvious, blatant foul and making the offended team go to OT, they very well might be deciding the game. It's total BS.

This rolls down to the high school level. That exact situation happened at a game I was scouting on Tuesday night and the official was clear in telling the aggrieved coach "I'm not going to whistle that foul in the last seconds and make the other team lose that way". It was appalling to hear.

tower912

Not to jump on a conspiracy bandwagon, but if it was Dunn driving to the lane and Carter guarding him, the call would have been made.
