This topic is great. Someone once told me that the Beatles stayed at Mashuda Hall when it was a hotel. A quick google search and bam...there it is.

They spent the night of September 4, 1964 in what is now Mashuda Hall. After playing to a sold out crowd at the Milwaukee Arena.

One summer I was doing some janitorial work while taking classes... we got assigned to clean Mashuda after a parents' or prospective students weekend.. people had stayed at Mashuda... and to our amazement, lots of them left cans and bottles of beer. That day was tremendous. Left with about 40 cans/bottles of beer
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

Back in the day a self-respecting sophomore demanded lodging at the Schroeder. That first taste of coed living, however tame, was the prize. Anyone who had to do the walk of shame at 2359 at McCormick knows of what I speak...

I concur with all of this statement.

yes.  what was the holiday inn/dorm on 26th or 27th street called?  that was like living in the boondocks, but one of the nicer dorms at the time-that was all it had going for itself...and it was coed.  chit, it better have been coed, campus was a long way to go to get some heyna, eh'na?

West Hall was a Holiday Inn
Mashuda Hall was a Howard Johnson

I believe Mashuda was a Holiday Inn.

I lived there sophomore year, and completely trashed our room.

Wow, that's an awesome picture.  I lived there also and always heard it was a Howard Johnson, I stand corrected.

Looks like it was room 701 and the neighboring room.

Howard Johnson

My dad flew F 100s out of Otis AFB when my sister was born. While my mom was in the hospital for that blessed event my dad, who didn't know how to boil water, took me to the HoJos at the Barnstable Roundabout every night for dinner which was fried clam strips.

3 on the tree, '69 pontiac tempest-looked like a goat muscle car though.  front seats weren't buckets back then-does that count?
