QuoteImpact Performance Nominees
The Capital One Cup Impact Performances of the week include Virginia's Darius Thompson, Wisconsin's Nigel Hayes, Marquette's Henry Ellenson and Oklahoma's Buddy Hield.

The video is odd. Praises every player, and then takes the time to knock MU for Hank being their first McDAA in 30 years.

I didn't see the Oklahoma game, but folks are sure talking up Buddy Hield's performance. Interesting that our guy had a better stat line. Oh, and he also beat LSU.

I'm not sure that's a knock as much as a statement of fact.

That's kind of a BS argument, right?

Everyone else had their performance discussed. There were plenty of things they could have said to put this game in a more favorable light. Perhaps the word "double double" or "6 blocks".

I am not saying it's on purpose or even glaring. I noticed it. It struck me as odd. No conspiracy theory here.

I think we only notice it because it's said about us. If they said Henry had a double double and Hield was an unranked three-star recruit that is playing at an All-American level, no one would bat an eye.

I agree with that. After I bought my car, it seemed like everyone owned one.

That said, I noticed this one when I don't normally see the bias until it's pointed out. It bugged me for something me reason.

I did not read the article, so I am not commenting on the intent of the writer. I think there is two ways to look at this. My take is that during those 30 years MU has been very successful without McDonald's Americans. I certainly can argue that they makes MU's success over those years even more amazing.

Probably because ESPN is evil and sucks and clearly has an axe to grind against our league since we broke off negotiations, so any perceived slight gets amplified. Just look at how their website would list the network (including FS1) for every other marginally major league on their schedule but never included where you could find Big East games until they were called out on it.

Don't blame you at all, they suck, but in this case I don't think it's a big deal ;)

Looks like Henry's ahead of Nigel Hayes but trailing Thompson and Hield by a lot:

48% Darius Thompson (Virginia): Game-winning 3-point FG in 72-71 win at Wake Forest
3%   Nigel Hayes (Wisconsin): 31 Pts in 82-79 win vs. No. 19 Indiana
11% Henry Ellenson (Marquette): 32 Pts, 10 Reb in 75-69 win vs. Butler
38% Buddy Hield (Oklahoma): 32 Pts, 7 Reb in 77-75 win at LSU
(Total votes: 1,855)
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Virginia must have some great coordination. They were far, far behind and just took off.

The fact that Henry is in the poll is pretty awesome in itself.

Yep.  Competing against three guys from big state schools, Henry would have had to go for 50 and 30 to have a shot at winning this.

Why do we care about this?

Why do we, Marquette fans, care about Henry Ellenson and his performance against Butler? Hmm, yeah, I'm coming up with blanks here, too.

No  :) I mean who cares if ESPN mentioned him as the first burger boy in 30 years / voting for him to win a meaningless ESPN online vote.

Perhaps I understood it wrong, and MU wins scholarship funds or something for Henry winning?
