Wow there is a lot of hacking being let go on ball handlers against the press.  So much for the "emphases."

Having complained about the refs, we also have to be smarter than inbounding it right into the trap corners every time, and have to be stronger with the basketball.

But man, a loooot of grabbing at the arms in those traps that just happen to go unnoticed (as St. John's is in the double bonus with 12 minutes left in the half).

Very similar to the Hail Mary pass in the end zone.

It was mentioned in another thread - which one I don't remember - but this might be part of the reason that the BEAST sometimes has such problems in March. The pre-conference refs call it according to whatever the year's emphases are, and then the BEAST conference season starts and the refs stop doing that. March comes and the BEAST teams have trouble adjusting to having tighter called games again. It makes some sense viscerally, although I don't have any numbers to share.

Hoyasincebirth claimed that the numbers dont actually support that argument but Ive never actually seen the numbers.

Louisville always got away with murder when they pressed.

The great thing about pressing with any refs (Big East or otherwise) is that if you turn a team over a couple of times legitimately (i.e. without fouling) then the refs start to give you the benefit of the doubt and you can start mauling the other team.

Pitino nearly admitted this in a interview some years back.
