Tip off is Saturday Night at 7PM in Queens (St. Johns).  The East coast is supposed to get hit by a monster blizzard starting tonight.  NYC is expecting "at least a foot."  Washington is expecting "nearly two feet."

Any talk that the game gets postponed?

I hope it is not as it will probably be played in front of 500 people and help take away St. Johns home court advantage.

I don't know?

I have tickets to the game.  It's not supposed to be too bad here on the coast of Connecticut (only calling for 4-8").  NYC does have a blizzard warning, but I can always take the train to the City.

60% of St. Johns is Asiatic, they don't show, snow or no snow.  The alumni come from the island and will come by train.  Is the team in Queens?   If so, game on.   We had a game like this 10 years ago at Rutgers and 500 showed up, maybe 500, we won.

I had tickets to that game but had to skip the game.  No train options to Rutgers.

How true, the arena is in the middle of nowhere.

You could have left at 4AM, gone to Grand Central, shuttled over to the 1,2,3 gone down to Penn Station, NJ  TRANSIT to New Brunswick, then walked and missed the game.

Getting to St. Johns will be almost as much fun, good luck.

Me, too.  Couldn't get out of my neighborhood for that Rutgers game.  Rutgers coach Gary Waters was on a recruiting trip or something and couldn't get back for the game himself.  We did not win the game, which made me feel better about not going.

I'm going to the UConn-Georgetown game in Hartford at noon tomorrow (taking my late college roommate's dad, who is a big UConn fan) and then taking the train to NYC with the Mrs. for the MU-SJU game at MSG.  Bad luck to have the snow, especially since we haven't had even an inch yet this winter.

The Milford Metro North station is less than 10 minutes from house.  After arrival at Grand Central there are a few options to get to MSG.

Same for me, Stratford Metro North station about 10 minutes from my house.  We usually just walk from Grand Central to MSG, it's about a mile, I think.

Yeah, not sure where the talk of the game being in Queens came from.  At MSG tomorrow.  Be at Mustang Harry's couple hours prior!

That walk is about as safe as it gets.  Or you could take the Shuttle to Times Square and then the 1,2, or 3 down to Penn Station.

Celtic Truth

The team is leaving this afternoon and they fully expect to play the game. However, they were initially planning on returning to Milwaukee on Saturday night after the game, but because of the storm they are staying in NY Saturday night as well.

I can assure everyone that my commute to MSG on the F train from Brooklyn tomorrow in a blizzard will be far less painful than my daily morning commute at 8:30am on that that same train on any beautiful sunny morning in NYC.

Definitely not . You could easily run into a phony hipster who actually works on Wall Street. Or some bridge and tunnel person who is going to Macy's. But it is a lot safer if you're not white- the cops supposedly don't stop and frisk anymore.

Do they get a big per diem in NYC?  Milwaukee beers are $20 there.

I don't know about "team," but they had a jai alai fronton, and it was the jewel of Connecticut frontons. I went quite a bit during my younger days, including when I was nowhere near old enough to bet (but they let me anyway).

It was the ultimate fixed sport. In one game, the guy who was supposed to win would be making incredible, acrobatic, diving plays. The next game, the exact same guy would drop the pelota when it was right in his cesta. The "sport" was trying to figure out who was supposed to win each match! Sophisticated gambler I was, I just went with my favorite numbers.
