As for the trip, this kid should have been suspended 10 games minimum, and maybe for the rest of the season. You simply can't have this kind of shyte happening.

i wouldn't be surprised if this is still evolving.  the school will probably make it's recommendation anf then the ncaa will follow-up with some more of it's own medicine if they don't think it was sufficient.  rules say no physical contact with the ref.  they may have to add an addendum for assault; to include, but not limited to tripping, nuclear wedgies and purple hermans

Funny.  You know I actually thought about that when I was typing that comment.  I heard about the 4 games during the OU-ISU game last night, and I knew the Pac-10 added Utah and Colorado but didn't know if they changed their name (like the Big 10 has 14 teams and the Big 12 has 10 teams) but did not bother to look it up.  Glad to know they're numerically sound.

Wow. That's incredibly lenient.

Intentionally tripping a game official is almost as bad as gambling, in my view. Not as bad, obviously, but it's almost that sacred to me. You just cannot allow it, and 4 games isn't much of a deterrent.
