Marquette opened as a 19-point underdog in its trip to Villanova tonight, which caught my attention, as I didn't recall Marquette ever being given so many points.  After a bit of searching, it turns out that my initial assumption was correct. That's a very interesting chart and for those who take solace in beating the spread -- I don't, but maybe some do -- it does give hope that we can do so.

The chart does give a cautionary tale, though: Twice within a 6-week stretch last season, we were 14-point underdogs to Villanova. We lost by 18 on the road and by 35 at the BET. So our recent history against Nova has not been as an underdog delight!
