Hah.  Nice.  Wojo knows what the young guys are into.  The "dab" (lame), last year's beginning a press conference with, "I'm just here so I don't get fined."  He puts on a mask in the media, but I'm guessing he's pretty loose with the guys.

It's obviously not Jajuan, but he had two big buckets when the offense stagnated that kept or regained momentum. Just wanted to give the guy a shoutout, I think he's picking his spots really well this year.

Completely agree with this.  He played within himself and made some key contributions.  there were a couple of situations where, last year, he would have just jacked up the hero three ball, but here he pulle dit down and made good things happen.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

He truly is becoming a team player, really proud of him.

Just rewatched the last 6 minutes with MU down 8.... Henry blocks two shots....plays great defense to alter others...grabs boards....draws a double team allowing JJJ a clear layup to the hoop....gets a major steal.....then comes up with the big block at the end.  Looooove Haanif....but HE is such a talent you just don't even notice sometime how impactful he really is on the game.

Just got back from the game.  My vote is definitely for Cheatham.

Also disappointed that Wally did not see the floor in the second half. He brought a lot of energy during his stint in the first.  And it's truly beautiful watching and the kid rebound.

Nice link.

Definitely looks like a group sick and tired of Wojo's mind games!

Cheatham

NOT Henry... Most of Providence's baskets during their comeback were against Henry's defense (or lack of defense).  I'm not anti-Henry, just want to see a more complete game win SOTG.

Strong Runner-up:  Wojo - managed the game well, good time usage, nice switch to zone, used TO's wisely, but most of all, had the team prepared for this one.

cheatham....yup

wow, not much love from the espn's of the world.  i know, we got some mention, but they are tongue-kissing simmons-he can do no wrong for them.  saw a comparison of him to magic johnson and lebron-puhhhleeeeze.  we beat the #8 on the road and it's like, oh yeah, nice one.  they beat #9 kentucky on their floor and they anoint them the world beaters.  funny stuff.  once you're in their world man, it's hard to get out.  hey espn-we beat simmons and lsu!!!

I clicked over to the end of the Kentucky/LSU game last night, which led into SportsCenter. Of course, all they could do was gush about Simmons. I thought it was funny, just like when we beat a ranked LSU team, the postgame talk was all about Simmons, now we go beat the #8 team in their gym, and again, the talk is all about Simmons.

Then when they finally got to the Marquette game (3rd story, I think) it was all Providence highlights until the end when they showed Duane's layup and Henry's block.

I was definitely chuckling at the coverage...undone again by Simmons!

It's hard to argue against Henry given his fat stat line, but Cheatham gets my vote.  Such an efficient game - 16 points on 71% shooting including 1/1 from three, to go along with the defense.  On the season, Cheatham is hitting 56% of his shots, including 61% of his threes.

cheatham. most consistent performer throughout the game

I'm going with Hani but EVERYONE contributed.  Even Matty gave us 5 very solid minutes.

Cheatham

After Henry hit his 1st three point attempt I was worried he'd keep jacking them up, went 1-5. Hasn't Wojo already mentioned at times the team jacks up too many?

Hannif Cheatham's efficiency is ridiculous. Shooting 55.9% from the field and 61.1% from three-point range. Just a freshman for Marquette.

I forgot about that first three.  When it happened to put MU up 5-0, I could have sworn he was not completely behind the line and thought they would correct it to a 2.  They never showed a replay and never mentioned it.  Did anybody else think the same thing?

That young man has hustle. I would say he was the toughest guy on the floor yesterday. Talk about playing hard in the minutes you're given.

not to turn this in to a bs thread, but i hate when sporting news in general start hailing a dude before he's even dry behind the ears.  once they anoint someone, many times, they are stubborn to criticize b/c it would be like admitting they were wrong.  i'm sure we will have a thread or two on bs and other legitimate POY'S, but i remember when they did this to a certain quarterback in the nfl who was adequate at best and then went on to flame out.  anyway, MU's great win overshadowed by a good, but not yet great playa...stay tuned.  go HE
