Going out on a limb Providence Game
« on: January 04, 2016, 03:21:03 PM »
Going out on a limb here. I think the Warriors are going to draw a line in the sand and show up loaded for bear. We are going to put two good halves together and show everyone we are built for Big East competition.

Sandy is going to step up big time to guarding Kris Dunn. Luke is going to have a very productive game and the freshman will all stay within their roles and subsequently have  solid high efficiency performances. Wally will give some energy.

Duane and JJJ will add icing to the cake in transition.

This game is one where I think the match ups can work in our favor.

We Win 82-78.

Bartender, I will have two of whatever he's drinking.

Providence is small. We match up way better with them than GT. Let Dunn get his and shut down Bentil and Co.

I think we lose a close one but play much better for the entire game...lick our wounds, come home 0-3 in conference and get on track going forward.

If we win this game we are right back to where we need to be. Take care of the Johnnies and we are 2-2. This team will learn/grow as the season goes on. Not giving up yet...Season is young.

Bentil is 6ft 9 and 240

Bullock is 6ft 8 and 235

Dunn is 6ft 4 and 220

That is not small unless all three get in foul trouble.......

Dunn against the MU freshmen guards will probably not be a fun thing to watch, but who knows.

You would of been right, if you were posting this last year. Beating Providence was our only win over an NCAA team. I suspect that Providence will not overlook us.

Three for me, and bartender, have one yourself. The limb is getting shorter and shorter.

I'm buying for the house!  And none of that stuff in the well!

I think we play much more active than we did in the first two - the same improvement we saw from SHU to GT - and Prov at the 12:00 mark of the second half thinks "we need to buckle down".  However, "containing" Dunn means keeping him under 20 and the win at Butler means they are legit.  we win this and we have found our formula - but they put the hammer down in the last 12:00 and win by 13.

COMPLETE SIDE NOTE:  Watching the Nova vs X game and the ST. J's vs Prov game on Saturday I was shocked at how knowledgable the fans were about rules/fouls/possession compared to the G'Town crowd which complained about every call/non call like it was a soccer match.  IMHO the X and Prov fan base understanding of the game, combined with their great teams, is what will make the BE VERY relevant going forward.

**probably should've Heisy'ed the side note and made a different thread**

We asked FS1's Vin Parise to give his thoughts on the Providence game.

Once MU gets down double digits, Wojo will have Todd Smith release his bag of dirty tricks...a bat, a liquored up brother, a drone arena blimp with a mind of its own.  Expect the unexpected.

I can not wait for the mysterious bat defense to raise its ugly head again.  But the liquored up brother sounds like the game winner to me

If we win tomorrow I would be ecstatic. Would be huge for this team. I'm just hoping for a close game. And if we lose I hope it's more of Henry shooting 3-14. If this team isn't ready to take the next step I hope it's also because Henry isn't plying as well as he can. Because this team with everyone back next year is gonna be really fun.

Always a Warrior
