Wonder what opposing fans will yell.

What will we yell?

Congrats on overspending on another player that won't help you get past the first round!

There.   ;D

Personally, I like the Brewers off-season moves better at this point.  We're better at two positions that we struggled at last year.  I'll call Kendall a lateral move as far as defense and offense, but brings a much better attitude to the park and he won't swing away at the first pitch.  Gagne isn't a mental midget like Turnblow - we've upgraded there too.  Even if he's half the closer he was from 2002-2004.  Once we make a move in either LF (Either?) or 3B (Rolen?  Blaylock?) our lineup 1-9 is as good if not better than the Cubs.  Throw into the mix the starting rotations and we're a better team on paper.  Notice I said on paper...

Too bad Pinella is WAY better than Yost.  Yost will cost us 10 games again this year with his idiotic moves...that means we better be REAL good the other 152.

I'll just say you're an idiot

Lee > Fielder: Push on offense (Power v. Average) Lee wins on Defense
DeRosa (Quite Possibly Roberts) > Weeks: Last year?
Theriot < JJ
Ramirez > Braun: Can Braun field a ball? No. Aram should have a Gold Glove
Soriano > Anyone the Brewers try to get
Pie < Hall
Fukudome = Hart: Can't compare. Hart won't have the same year.

Rotation? Ha!

Zambrano = Sheets
Lilly > Gallardo
Hill > Suppan
Marquis > Capuano: Will he win a game again?
I'd say the 5th rotation spots are up in the air right now.

Gagne is not better than Coco. Turnbow is not better than Linebrink. Mota just throws gas...Turnbow?

Hey but thanks for coming in here and PRN'ing (hijacking) the Cubs thread. If anyone gave a crap, they would start a Brewers thread.

🏀

I would also like to say that the Brewers bullpen is so full of juicers, you might as well sign Barry Bonds.

Marshall + Murton + Veal + another get moved to MacPhail for Bedard and Roberts. I'll almost guarantee it after Lou said Fuk will play CF.

Bahahaha -- is this the MLB boards I'm reading?  What a ridiculous proposal -- that package may get Roberts but it's not getting Roberts and Bedard.  If the Cubs want Bedard, both Hill and Pie are going to Baltimore.

Lee > Fielder: Push on offense (Power v. Average) Lee wins on Defense

In what world is it a *push* on offense?  Seriously?  You use batting average to judge a player's talent at the plate?  And you're calling other people idiots?  That's golden.  Lee's and Fielder's OBP were identical last season -- Fielder, OTOH, slugged 100 points higher than D-Lee.  Fielder is also 23 while Lee is 32 -- Lee's best years are behind him.

---------------------------

This is going to be an interesting race.  The Cubs most certainly aren't done for the winter, as Roberts seems like a good possibility.  I'd say whoever wins the Central are probably the NL favorites heading into the playoffs...  of course, being the NL favorites these days is like being the world's tallest midget.  There's five teams in the AL better than any team in the NL -- there's also a good handful of other AL teams who would be right up there with the top NL teams.  The talent differential between the two leagues is astronomical at this moment in time.

Eye

I sure hope the guy who mentioned Prior is joking, he likely will not even be tendered.

He was listed as the 7th option on a five-man pitching staff. How much lower could I put him?

I'm the idiot?  You're kidding, right?  Take off the Harry Carey glasses for a moment and get serious...

Lee = Fielder: Fielder WAY better on offense, Lee slightly better defensively
Two-headed monster < Weeks: Offensively & defensively Weeks will be WAY better this year (no wrist problems)
Theriot < JJ: Finally, you're talking some sense
Ramirez = Braun: What Braun gives offensively balances the difference in defense
Soriano > ????: Agreed
Pie < Hall: Agreed
Fukudome < Hart: Hart because he's done it at the big league level for multiple years

Rotation?

Zambrano > Sheets
Lilly < Gallardo
Hill = Suppan
Marquis = Villanueva

Agreed: I'd say the 5th rotation spots are up in the air right now.

You didn't even mention your bullpen - are you trying to hide it?  I'm going to assume ours is better since we've actually done something to improve it this offseason.

You're welcome for hi-jacking a Cubs thread.  I love Cubs fans.  They're so cute with their over-inflated egos about their sorry a$$ team.  I especially enjoyed going to a Cubs/Brewers game last year at Wrigley and having a bunch of over-served Cubs fans ripping apart and swearing at my 5 and 3 year old daughters for wearing Fielder and Hall jerseys.  That was such a precious moment...

I typed out a long response, but I don't feel like turning into a pissing match. The Cubs won the division, the Brewers didn't. If you say we bought our team, thanks for the compliment, we have fans that will actually attend games in our stadium. I'm sorry being a Wisconsin resident for all these years has given you such an inferiority complex, good luck with the Mitchell report.

Now, back to Cubs talk.

Hill = Suppan?  WTF?  Hill is much better than Suppan.

(And I'm a Sox fan so I'm in no way partial to the Cubs)

I'll turn it into a pissing match but first: HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

But seriously, Gagne is a downgrade from Cordero.  I don't think Cordero had higher than a 6.75 ERA or was listed on the steroid list.  Also Coco hasn't had arm surgery.

You traded for Mota.  Great now you have three guys who all throw the exact same thing.  Good luck with that.

Find me anyone in the Brewers pen who is as lights out as Carlos Marmol.

Ask Indian fans about Riske.  They will tell you he gives up homeruns at the worst times.  I will admit his numbers are good though.

I'll give you the Cubs don't have a lefty other than Scott Eyre.  I'll give you guys an advantage in situational matchups.

Ned Yost is in charge of your bullpen.  Good luck.

Inferiority complex?  To the Cubs?!?!  BWAWAWAWAWAWAWA....thanks for putting a smile on my face today.  How could I feel inferior to the "lovable losers"?  I would really have to be down on my luck (maybe living on the streets?) to feel that way...

Good luck with the Mitchell report?  Take a look and count the number of former Cubs players mentioned and compare that to the list of former Brewers...maybe I should be wishing YOU good luck.  How is Slammin' Sammy doing these days?

I do have to agree with TallTitan34 - Yost will be attributed to at least 10 losses for the crew for his mismanagment of not only the bullpen but also the starting rotation.

Yep, we don't have over 10 million dollars of roids on the Mitchell Report. Do you? Nope. If your kids act anything like you, they got what they deserved.

muwarrior87

Prior, Wood, Roberts (if you even get him) have all been linked to roids.  Don't give me that crap the the Brewers pen is filled w/ juicers...it's a plague on baseball, no team isn't effected.

TallTitan34

Prior is no longer a member of the Chicago Cubs.

Neither Prior or Wood were linked.  Their names were on the incorrect list that was released.

Um. There are many teams that aren't affected. The Cubs have zero players currently on the list, and if their acquire Brian Roberts, I'll be fine with that. His section has no credible evidence against him.

However, your $10 million boy Gagne has signed checks, and had packages delivered to Dodger Stadium C/O Eric Gagne. Theo Epstein told him no 'Roids in Boston, and his ERA ballooned to 6+. I hope you all enjoy having a closer like that, how much money did Coco want? Wasn't it a little more than $10 million? Way to go Brewers!

MUCHI814

I'm shocked that anyone would ever say that Lee is "slightly" better than Fielder at 1B...Fielder had exactly twice as many errors than Lee (7-14), Lee won a Gold Glove(his 3rd) and Fielder led the league in errors...also I think a lot to with Ramirez's sharp decline in errors is Lee coming to the Cubs...I don't mean to be harsh, but I really can't respect that comment at all

I've noticed a parallel between UW and MU people both from Wisconsin. While UW thinks they are better at everything than MU, all of Wisconsin can get together and think the Brewers are some sort of godsend of a team.

robmufan

My question for brewers fans is what they expect if ryan braun does actually go to the outfield...a)who plays 3rd base and b) look how bill hall did going to CF, i could see braun miss fielding some balls in the first half which wont help a team already plagued with errors!

Currently on the list.  It's an initial list. you look up and down every lineup in baseball and I guarantee you'll find at least one guy, if not more, who had a massive decline in stats when this thing started breaking open.  The Cubs may have some of the smarter individuals that paid cash instead of checks but you can't say that no team isn't affected.

and honestly, i wasn't happy with the Gagne pickup.  And Coco never made it known to Melvin how much of an increase he wanted, his agent just said the money offered wasn't enough. What do you do in that position when he won't say what he wants, even when asked.

🏀

That's fair enough then. I thought Melvin didn't want to go over $10 million for Coco. But that situation just says he didn't want to stick around in Milwaukee. Which is hard to believe, I mean, come on they just added the Chorizo!

Fielder is a DH stuck at 1B because he's in the National League. Lee is one of the best first basemen in either league.
