Luke seemed as fresh at the end of the game as at tip-off, very few mistakes. His positioning is spot-on and
you gotta love the way he plays.

BlindboyPatSmith

Sandy first half......Henry the second....can it be split?  Oh crap then there is Luke's 13 rebounds.....this isn't an easy one....

I am good with ONE FOR THE TEAM

brewcity77

Expanding on my Sandy love, he gave us the huge lead they could never overcome. Chief all day.

tower912

I won't kvetch if it is Sandy, I just think Luke played a more consistent, complete game.

Sandy. It's not his fault that we jinxed him by calling him SOTG 7 minutes into the game.
Have some patience, FFS.

I think we're fortunate we didn't blow it after Brew posted so early....

Isn't it nice to be able to feel this way after an 18 point win that never got closer than 7 (I believe)?

Whatever happens this season, at least we're better than last year's team.

I'd probably go Sandy, with Fischer a close second.

Obligatory post game note that Henry had 20 and 8 and isn't being considered. Don't take him for granted.

tower912

Amazing how 20-8 can go unnoticed and seem pedestrian.

Good point, nice "problem" to have this team has a huge upside!

It is amazing how easy Henry can make 20 and 8 look....

Hard to believe I'm not going with a guy who scored approximately 804 points in the first 2 minutes, but ...

Luke was the best player on the floor tonight, from the first minute to the last and on both ends of the court. I mean, the guy had 7 offensive boards, leading to a lot of second-chance points for the team.

Aside from the first 6 or 7 minutes, I thought the best Warrior not named Luke was Wilson, with Ellenson right up there.

I honestly don't see how this isn't Sandy.

As for Luke.  He played well, but he has severe limitations defensively.  He is ok at the rim against smaller players (where he picks up his blocks), but he gives up a lot with anyone that can take the ball of the bounce or shoot from outside.

The other teams target him on offense.

On the other hand.  Cohen is assigned the other teams best player and still:

Scored 24 points, shot over 50% from the floor, 60% from 3, grabbed 5 rebounds, had 3 assists, 3 steals and got a block to round things out.  No way that isn't SOTG.

Dr. Blackheart

KPom had Sandy with the MVP.  Much higher usage rate than Luke.

ChitownSpaceForRent

I would have said Henry for keeping us afloat in that second half before we pulled away late again. Don't mind him shooting the 3 but they have to be better looks then tonight.

Wojo didn't sit him on the bench because he wanted to.   Sandy got in foul trouble.

So you're saying he's a center?

Seriously, all true centers will struggle against guys that shoot outside or can take guys off the bounce. That's why they guard other centers and stay close to bucket and guard the rim. Luke is much better than ok at the rim. He rotates well, has good instincts, and great discipline. There was a play in the second half where the opponent went at him hard, Luke walled up and didn't move Ann inch. There was lots of contract but it was a good no call because of how Luke walled up. He even managed to swat the shot in the process. He also had very active hands, think he led the team in deflections last night including one that prevented an alley oop.

Any center will struggle a little on defense when the opponent uses a wing or stretch four in the 5 spot. That doesn't bother me because we have a huge advantage on offense and on the glass. If Luke stokes against legitimate centers, that's what will worry me.

Good point about Sandys defense though. Forced Princeton Onwas into 8 turnovers last night iirc.
