This is tough for me.  I was at the game and 100% agree Fischer was the stud - Wojo trusted him for 35 min of game time (and probably would have been 40 if not for foul problems).

JJJ came up big in crunch time, and played well, but sat on the bench for nearly a half - I guess credit to him for playing efficient.  But seems to be the scoop favorite.

Screw it, I have to go with my gut, especially after typing it out.

Don't you forget it!

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Luke deserves it but JJJ absolutely wanted the ball in crunch time. We were missing someone like that for the first three games. Maybe he's our clutch player? Never thought I would say that.

TAMU

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

ChitownSpaceForRent

First SOTG I've ever throughly disagreed with. Oh well.

Mutaman

JJ played a great game but Fisher played his heart out on both ends. He deserves it.

ESPN just called.  We're gonna need to change it to Ben Simmons.

+1.

Hey, we're all just pleased that we get to argue about it this morning topper.

I'd have gone with JJJ. Loved his aggressiveness all night, and loved loved loved that he stepped up and hit the free throws.

But absolutely no problem with Luke. He's become a very good college center, and he had a superb game. I love the way he grabs the rebound and passes quickly to get the break started, often releasing the ball before he even hits the floor.

This ridiculous snub will simply motivate Trey-J to play even better tonight.
Have some patience, FFS.

I am with you on that.  He did want it and didn't settle late in the game.  That is huge.

Daniel

JJ. But Luke is up there too.

CountryRoads

Luke and JJ were the studs. Thought Luke did a great job getting in position for rebounds. Hope he stays out of foul trouble tonight.

One note I forgot to add, sat around a bunch of the NBA scouts, and along with the usual suspects, were taking plenty of notes on Luke.

Luke had a great game, but it would not of matter if JJJ did not make those two free throws. Besides that JJJ scored on a drive after he got hit in the nose. He did not shoot the free throw, because his nose was bleeding. He showed me the toughness I did not know he had.

It seems like the big difference this year is that Wojo trusts JJJ to play through his challenges, whereas Buzz pulled him right away last year. He really is a confidence-based player, and the more floor he sees the better he seems to get.

JJJ - this is an abomination! (Probably didn't have a pic of JJJ, I mean, what were the odds!?!)

Dr. Blackheart

When Luke went out for four minutes with his foul trouble, MU held and built its lead from 6 to 7, with JJJ taking control with points, steals and rebounds. Luke subbed back in for JJJ, and MU lost their cushion immediately until JJJ was put back in and then he won it at the end.

My bigger question after Iowa was why JJJ sat to start against LSU?  I thought he was the only one who played decently vs. Iowa.  Things are different behind closed doors, I know.

JJJ played just 23 minutes, for 6th most on the team. Your example isn't the entire picture.

I think JJJ has been so ineffective the past 2 years because his game hasn't matched the team's style. Marquette has played such a slow half court offense the last couple years, and JJJ absolutely shines in the transition game. He's fast, agile and has a lot of great moves when he catches defenses on their heels. If he were to transfer to the likes of UNLV, we would see him play like this more often.

And in those 23 minutes, he scored 16 points, 4-6 on twos, 2-4 on threes, 2-2 on FT's to clinch, 5 DR's (same as Luke in 35 minutes ), 3 assists, only 1 TO, 1 block, 2 steals.  A 137 ORtg.  Incredibly efficient on both ends, unlike the rest of the team.

Luke played great.  Absolutely essential.  JJJ was the finisher, though, even though his coach didn't let him be the starter.

If Greg F*cking Stiemsma can get an NBA game, Luke sure as hell can.

Buzz didn't pull him right away last year - he was coaching at Virginia Tech. Wojo coached JJJ last year.

Forgot to mention had to play defense against perhaps the number one pick in the draft as well.

95% vote for JJJ.  Luke gets it.
Damn you America.
