He's a captain, hopefully he rises up.  I believe he can.

FFS, you guys.

He'll be fine.

Exactly.

He had a tough night on Monday...but still shot close to 50% and had 15 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, a steal and the biggest bucket of the game.

Stretchdeltsig

Diana's a player.  I like how he fights and plays to win.

The next few games will tell us a lot about Duane's ability to lead.  He had a difficult night and made some bad decisions Monday, but it might just be a blip.  Step up against Iowa, LSU, et al, and Monday will quickly be forgotten.

We have to remember that team leader is a new role for Duane....

I never saw Duane pout.

Same here.
I saw some frustration over having an off game. That's way better than indifference, IMO.

I never saw Duane pout.

I saw him noticeably pout once.  He was out in front on a fast break and Cheatham didn't pass him the ball, and instead went the length of the court and got stuffed at the rim.  Duane was hanging and shaking his head...but I almost don't blame him there.

He had one tough game that wasn't even that bad...I am willing to give him a pass, as I think he's going to be a real stud. No biggie.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Duane is adjusting to a lot of new roles . I didn't see him pouting at all. At the end of the day our success is aligned with his ability to lead the team.

Well, OK, I saw that.  But I don't think I would call that pouting, and in fact I don't think it was that big of a deal.  But no need to split hairs.

Saw that. Didn't take it as pouting. Saw it as a reasonable response to Cheatham's bad play. I too was shaking my head over that one.

Agreed. I'm not doing the hair splitting, and I don't think it is a big deal either.

Even Bardo noticed it. "Pouting" may be too juvenile, but he's clearly got some things to work on when things aren't going his way. For the record, I really like Duane. He's a charismatic guy and I feel that charisma is noticeably absent at times. He's still young.

Bardo said something like:

"Duane Wilson has terrible body language right now."

Bardo is one of the better analysts, too. Played for a Final Four team at Illinois, played briefly in the NBA, played professionally overseas for years and is a really sharp guy.

DU was off in many ways Monday.  It's not if you occasionally fall, it's how you get up. I'm sure he'll bounce back just fine.

The way Duane played Monday, there was about a 60/40 chance he dribbled it off his foot and out of bounds.  At the time it was almost the right play by Cheatham.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Do people think before they post here? When Duane reads this do you think this will help or hurt the cause?

I saw no pouting. Just frustration. Which is natural when you lose your first game and need ot in the second one.

Maybe scoop needs to take its own advice. I've seen way more frustration and pouting from fans here than I've seen from players on the court.

Duane is fine.  If anything I see a guy pressing really hard to be the leader and forcing some things rather than letting the game come to him.  Remember who hit the big shot to lock up the game early this week.

He is a leader on the team and I hope to see some of these shots start to fall for him.

Scoop oftentimes comes off like a bunch of 70 year old men lamenting that kids these days don't play the way that they played.  (Even though they never played that way.)  Sports are fun.  Sports are emotional.  I doubt Haanif cared.

This is like the laughable "slap of five" controversy from a couple years ago.

BM1090

Duane got pissed at himself once after a turnover and smacked the scorer's table pretty hard. Loud enough that it resonated in the empty stadium. But I don't mind seeing passion like that out of a leader as long as it's not directed at other teammates.
