54. HENRY ELLENSON, Marquette

I did a story on this fella back in the summer of 2014. He's got a very good game, some power and some baby-touch. He's going to make Marquette worth watching this season, and if he stays for two years (I expect him to), then MU will be in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. -- MN

Thanks for sharing.

I am glad the "experts" don't believe yet.  This team will surprise.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

In other news, despite Doug Gottlieb being a total douche, the video in the lower right about JaQuan Lyle is pretty funny.

Norlander is high.  This team will be playing on the 2nd weekend.  Talent trumps all and with Henry (and Duane) we have the talent.

Talent at PG matters more than any other position (see last two seasons). How Carter and Cheatham do at the point will determine how far this team can go. Italy made Carter look promising but I want to see a few games against real competition before declaring this team tourney bound. I think the Belmont and Iowa games will tell us a lot.

That being said, I think Henry was listed too low by this list.

If Henry is listed as 54 and he believes it, I suspect he will be back.

If we're as Europe suggested we might be, we'll be playing PAST the second week. A lot has to come together for that to happen but there is an interesting mix of talent on this team.

Yeah I am not sure about "second weekend," unless you are talking NIT Final Four.  While I think this team is being overlooked, they aren't going to be a top 16 seed.  I have been thinking 6-9.  So that means upsetting a 1, 2 or 3.

I just don't see it yet.

I think we'll be around a 7 seed but playing like a 3 or 2 seed by that point in the season.

I think people are truly underestimating the impact of Luke and Traci. Here's the big difference between Wojo's recruits and Bazz. I was at madness and sat right behind the bench, but Traci and Haanif are huge. They both have college ready bodies, something nobody bazz recruited had, besides maybe the Jucos. Have a little faith. This is a tourney team.

....I would argue that Buzz's issue was he focused too much on athletes and not on basketball players.

Maybe but look at JJJ, Jamail, and Sandy in comparison to Traci, Sacar and Haanif.

So pick the three smallest of Buzz's recruits and compare them to the most swoll of Wojo's?

Hope your right. If Wojo's recruits are better than "Bazz's" and he's as good a coach as "Bazz" we shouldn't be worrying about making the tourney, we should be worrying about our Elite 8 opponent.

In due time. Bert left the cuberred completely empty. The fact that Wojo has brought in the amount of talent as quickly as he has is, frankly, quite possibly the best recruiting job of any coach in America when you consider he has no results as a head coach himself to sell.

Lens is anticipating that a 1/2/3 seed gets upset and MU will face a 14/15/16 to advance  ;)

I have a lot of faith in Traci, Henry, Duane and Luke.  Foul trouble to our bigs is still a glaring weakness in my eyes.  In that respect I wish that STJ had stayed.

Draft Express has Henry Ellenson as the #8 draft eligible prospect in the ENTIRE WORLD for 2016 draft.

I don't think I've ever seen so many differing opinions on Henry. All the draft sites have him as a top 10 prospect while all the NCAA previews pretty much places him as a role player. Is there really that much lack of respect for MU around the country?

There are 350+ division 1 men's basketball teams.  Those teams have 13 scholarships to give out to players.  That's 4,550 scholarships.  Ranking a guy at number 54 puts him in the top 1.2% of division 1 college basketball players.  I don't think that places him anywhere near a role player.  I would consider a role player to be players "ranked" 4 or 5-7 on his own team.  Hank is ranked 1st on his team in these rankings.

NBA teams draft almost entirely based on potential.  See guys like Shabazz Napier who goes from being maybe the best player in college to being selected at the end of the first round in the NBA Draft.  Or guys like Marvin Williams who goes from being a 6th man (truly a role player) on his college team to being the 2nd overall draft pick in the NBA Draft.

Marquettte is not lacking in respect.

I am still trying to figure out the buzz behind Hayes....I know he is good, but #12 and All-American good? I don't think so...

12 & 6 for a third wheel is pretty damn great, so if he's "The Guy" now, he's going to go way up from there.

My conclusion after watching the team run up and down the floor in Italy that there was no place on this team for Taylor.

Agreed! I love Taylor but those knees weren't going to hold up. Plus yes, fouls will be a sticking point, but I think Heldt will fill in nicely for those 5 min. I've seen clips of him on Twitter and Instagram grabbing nice rebounds and some great put backs during team scrimmages. I'd hope he can handle the 5 min with 2pts and 2 rebounds or so a game.
