Mike Brey is a whiney little b1XXh.  Wah, Wah, Wah.

Just goes to show how important success is to the funding of athletics.  We got the Al, and they don't.

Great writing and editing:

That includes the massive framework of steal that will eventually become nine-level Corbett Family Hall rising along the east side of Notre Dame Stadium.

ND raises buckets more dough than we do in athletics. Might have a little bit to do with Football being the engine and that is where the money flows.

As a coach I would complain to. For recruiting it is important to have the best facilities possible. That is one of the reasons Kentucky can get so many one and dones. Their facilities and dorms far exceed what the other schools have.

I believe we won a national championship practicing in an old, outdated gymnasium on the southwest corner of campus. At the time, we shared it with registration, ROTC and God knows what else.

Admittedly, if we still had the Old Gym as the core of our basketball programs, we'd be playing UW-Green Bay and UWM twice a year. But as important as facilities can become, it still is coaching, visibility and a chance to grow that attracts athletes to a school. That and attractive coeds!

Looks like NDinsider is taking cues from ESPN about how to talk about the Big East;

"The school's outdated/non-functional facilities were OK in the Big East, for there were several other league schools (DePaul, Providence, Seton Hall) that faced similar challenges. Not so in the Atlantic Coast Conference, where Notre Dame's basketball facilities - practice court, weight-training areas, meeting spaces – fall far behind the rest of the league."

Umm, Miami, Virginia Tech, Clemson, and Notre Dame all have subpar basketball facilities. Ironically, now the Big East has LESS subpar facilities than the ACC because ND left.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

The Zelnak Center opened in 2009. I definitely wouldnt call it "sub-par." I'm guessing you've never seen it...

Oops, yes I've never been to most of those schools. I was just going by wikipedia, however, I think Miami had subpar bball facilities, so I replaced them with GT.

Atticus

And Clemson is getting a brand new facility.

When the Al was built it put us on the top level of facilities. I am guessing that the AL is just average now for the power conferences.

I thought for sure that after reading RC's title to the thread that the post would simply say,

Because they're ND!

i've been to a few games at the joyce center before they remodeled it.  it was tiny(capacity about 9-10,000?) then and it's still small now.  the first game i attended, i couldn't believe that was their FACILITY for D-1 b-ball.  i'm thinking, this must be their back-up joint while their real arena is undergoing some transformations...oh well, brey will just have to suck it up heyna?

That article needs a paragraph explaining why they pack up the Joyce Center floor during the summer.

Notre Dame has fantastic athletic facilities overall.  They are not being limited by lack of a basketball facility in any way.

If "they" refers to the basketball team, then yes. Yes they are.

Now that is funny!. That leprechaun is absolutely one of the top 3 most obnoxious "mascots" in sports. Ranks up there with Blueteaux.
