One year $20 million. Glad to see this deal get done. Hope he stays with the Heat through the end of his career.

So, in the span of three days (though Wes not official until July 9, I think), we have Wade, Wes, JFB and Jae signing for wat likely will be $225,000,000 (Wes turned doewn 4 year $64,000,000 from the Kings, so I asusme his deal beats that) plus in contracts.  Not bad!

Chicos' Buzz Scandal Countdown

If you took it as a group, the total contract value for current MU NBA players has to have increased ~$100M this week.

Overall wade got screwed by the heat and James. He lost out on a lot of money trying to help the heat clear cap space. Surprised he couldn't get a longer deal.

Matthews got lucky teams have money to take chances. I would be scared as hell paying him that coming off his injury.

Wes actually took 4 yrs $52 mill from Dallas; passed on $12 mill for a better situation. Unusual, but it's all more than anyone would ever need to live comfortably. Sacramento is pretty messed up and unstable right now, Dallas could end up in good shape coming out of free agency.

Do the math on how much he saves in state income tax. The gap narrows quite a bit on an after tax basis.

Report that I read didn't have thoe numbers, and I'm a bit surprised, but certainly a much better situation and slo good point on income taxes-zero for TX?  Around 10% for CA?

Yep

For simplicity, assuming (erroneously) that all income will be in-state, Sacramento offered only 3.5 million more. Some of that comes out in the wash with jock taxes in other states, but he has a significantly higher percentage of games in states with no state income tax (in the division of MEM, HOU, DAL, NOLA - only NOLA has one).

Great haul for Wes in a good situation. I hope that he recovers to the player he was in Portland.

CA is 13.3% for income over $1 million.  My quick math estimates Wes pays $3-4 million less in taxes over the course of the deal.  The actual savings might even be a little bit higher.

Throw in playing for a playoff team with one of the best owners vs a dysfunctional perennial lottery team and it makes a lot of sense.

Are Wes and Chico Facebook friends? Maybe Wesley got the skinny that Texas>California from our boy.

You probably didn't factor in your 3% annual raise.
