Unrepentant Mickelson fan here.   C'mon, Phil.   Phinish the slam!

I'd love to see Lefty win, but I'll be rooting hardest (today and tomorrow, anyway) for Nick Hardy, a 19 year old University of Illinois freshman who grew up (and still lives, between college and golf tournaments) across the street. Really nice young man with some serious game.

I have played Chambers Bay. It is a demanding links course that is unremittingly in your face. They used to give passes to Special Services at nearby McChord AFB and Ft Lewis that allowed us to play for under $20 (It was scaled by rank.)

We had a squadron outing and one guy pointed out that the green fee might have been only $16 but he lost a hundred bucks in Pro V1s and would never find the $400 driver he threw into Puget Sound...

Very cool.

I love that Chambers is hosting the Open. What a course to showcase the diversity and the ingenuity of course design that can be American golf.

A good test for any club is how well it floats.    I find that when I am swinging poorly, helicoptering a couple of clubs down the fairway helps me get to my left side and get a full release.   ;D

Nick just made an eagle 2 on #12. He's one under on his round.

this is going to be a lot of fun to watch-got it on the live stream on 2 computers and tv.  tiger(+6) is really struggling as well as ricki fowler-they keep looking for the beverage babe to come driving up the fairway  start using some of their drink tickets ;D ;D

nick hardy bounced his tee shot(par 4) dead nuts off the stick and it bounced back a few inches-wow, BUT, made the putt for eagle as you guys said.  would love to see him contend

you guys see the 15 year old-cole hammer-he'll get the girls with just his name-show 'em the hammer can take on a few different meanings

The one for cool people is in late August-early September.

Not sure if there is a tennis Pro V1 but Titleist makes a damn good golf ball.

He's the Chicos of the PGA.

Totally nailed it. I actually have been picturing Phil when I need an image of Chicos. I'll let JB post on when I need that image.

So, should all athletes keep their mouths shut on these types of issues or just the ones that you don't agree with?
