Self banning

One of main memes in the "Ners knows all" era of Scoop.  Ners drove everyone insane, to the point it was palpabale to him.  He created a poll for Scoop to vote on whether he should ban himself.  Scoop voted yes, and Ners proceeded to ignore it.  Emperor Palpatine has nothing on this guy.



Can't win on national tv or w/ baby blues

I can't find any origin history on this meme but it relatively ubiquitous for MU fans.  Per the legend, the team can't win when on national tv or when wearing the baby blue unis.  God help them if both are happening at the same time.  There have been a large number big wins and losses on national tv to make this not true, but never let reality stand in the way of a good meme

IIRC, Ners claimed that although he was losing the vote on self banning, he was "saved" by the moderators locking the thread before voting closed.

We can credit MUAvenue with the "can't win on national TV" meme.

Yep.  And if the thread hadn't been locked, I'm confident that Ners would have come up with a "hanging chad" theory or some other nonsense.

Correct.  And I believe he stated that his interpretation of the thread lock was that we didn't want him to self ban, otherwise we would have let it run till completion.
