"Thornton and his father, Tank, took an unofficial visit to Duke for the game against North Carolina and he can still remember the atmosphere."

We need to remember to create the best atmosphere possible at every home game. You never know when a recruit could be visiting.

It was mentioned in another thread that several of the top recruits waited to see who and how many would be leaving for the NBA early.   This is just another example of a young man biding his time and waiting for a scholarship offer from the school he wanted to attend.   Kudos to K, kudos to the young man for the quality card playing.

OMG, does this reclassification drop Traci Carter's ranking from 157 to 158???
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Yeah, the Duke fans were probably thinking about taking the UNC game off but then remembered that a recruit might be at the game and really made an effort to generate a good atmosphere for the Duke-UNC game.

It is does not appear there are true "blue blood" schools. UCLA was with Wooten, but has not been since he retired, to state an obvious example.

More than schools, there are "blue blood" coaches. Al was one ... even though it was more like "blue knuckles."

Louisville, Kentucky, Duke are great programs because they have great coaches ... coaches with a blue blood history.

This is what all schools are seeking. There are many at Marquette who believe that Coach Wojo may well be that type of coach.

Some of the things that defines a blue blood is the ability to come right back after a poor season. Michigan State is an example of that. In addition the poor seasons are few and far between and still win 18 or 19 games. Finally a blue blood is school that is automatically on radar of the best recruits.

To me  by that definition the Blue Bloods are Duke , UNC, Kentucky , Kansas, Michigan State, Louisville, U Conn, Syracuse  and UCLA .

I don't put Wisconsin in that group, primarily because of the recruiting. The Grinch runs a good system for sure, but if he left the school would be a middle of the pack entity in the Big Ten. They are in the next group of 10 or 12 schools that in any given year can make a decent run. Ohio State, Florida etc.

Yup. The old Coach K magic. Need a PG--no problem. Hope that one day this happens at MU.

yeah its got it.  Dave Robinson's son Jason is a Walk on, a Preferred Walk on whatever that means.

Well, we do have Marc Marotta's son as a preferred walk on starting next year. Wouldn't surprise me to see this connection used with other influential members of the alumni community that have kids playing basketball.

A preferred walk-on is a player who was asked by the coaching staff to join the basketball program despite there not being a scholarship available. In theory, that player would be first in line to gain a scholarship if one opens up unexpectedly...and there are no top 10 recruits who reclassify  ;)

I'd love to see the staff offer this option to Kaj Days, even if he ends up with scholarship offers elsewhere. I doubt he'll end up here, but keeping open the lines of communication could help in the long run when little brother Nobal is ready to make a commitment. If he's anywhere near as good as some are speculating, we'll want those doors open.

Safe to say some other schools in the state have been bit in the behind before by not giving attention to the older of two basketball playing brothers.
