Ozelberger was the lead recruiter on Matt Thomas, so he may be the guy with Wisconsin recruiting connections.

He's from Milwaukee, so it would make sense for that to be the case.

Yup, Monty out in NOLA, Thibs to the Pelicans and Hoiberg to Chicago. Almost a #donedeal.

(Seems like we're no longer talking about Nick in this thread, so here goes.) Would the Bulls take Hoiberg over Billy Donovan, who seems to be getting talked about as being interested in jumping to the NBA? I'm genuinely curious to hear from folks who might have a much better idea than I.

Yes.

Hoiberg is that young, fresh face who has already worked in a NBA front office and played not too long ago.

He's about as hot a commodity there is for the leage

Reunion with Joakim. Interesting.

I think Thibs stays though.

What if (and it's a big IF) the Bulls win the title? Surely you can't let Thibs go then, and The Mayor is left waiting.

Let's be serious.  I'm a fan but that's crazy talk.

(Sigh) I know. But doesn't being a fan require a little bit of crazy?

With a healthy Rose, this is crazy talk?

Now, he might not be healthy. $hit, he might NEVER be healthy again.

But if he is, he also will be rested and ready. Weren't the Bulls the conference favorites before the season assuming the very lineup they will present if Rose is healthy?

Rose isn't healthy and even if he was, I doubt they beat the Cavs.  And no team from the east is beating whomever gets out of the west.

It's sad for me to say but it's more likely that Rose aggravates his injury and is forced back into street clothes than the Bulls make a championship run.  He has damaged petals alright.  ::)

Galway Eagle

I heard someone say they think rose has some sort of muscular degenerative condition. Is that at all possible/

Everyone can blast me for this, and you can tell me how wrong I am (and I probably am, as most here know more than I), but I wouldn't want Rose on my team as the featured player.

He is very quick on offense and can blow by defenders.  But, to me he is like Carmello, a guy who will never take his team too far.  Not only because of injuries, but because he shoots a lot to get his points and doesn't know how to fully integrate into the team concept when his shot is off.  Not a leader except to make sure he shoots it a lot no matter what.  That is my impression of him.

Good assessment of the post injury Rose. Now he's a below average shooter jacking too many shots. Prior to his injuries, though, he was unstoppable going to the basket and a totally different (better) player.

If you could take away the injuries and turn back time, maybe Rose could have been a brilliant player. But at this point, he feels more like an anchor latched to the heels of the Bulls than anything. I've said for the past couple years that until they shed that contract, the Bulls won't really be able to compete for a title. Build around Jimmy, Noah, and Mirotic, and find a PG that will accentuate their skills rather than his own.

Sad as it may be, Rose is past his prime at 26. For a season and a half, he was the man. Unfortunately for him, it really looks like that was it.

JWags85

He averaged 8 assists a game during his MVP year and the year after.  Still was a scoring guard, but had the awareness and vision to know that his ability to get to the lane at will would collapse everything and present opportunities.  He can't do the same thing as a shooter, which he isn't anyways.
