I find this interesting, mainly because I cheer for both sports. I know plenty that have had bad relations with Mexican fans, but in my experience, it's the team I really don't like and the fans I'm fine with. Wisconsin is the opposite. Not much gripe with the players (okay, they whine a TON, but Bo teaches them to do that) but their fans are collectively asshats.

I'm just trying to make the analogy.  Mexico = Marquette and Wisconsin = USA.  You (a Marquette fan) hate that Wisconsin beats us at our own game (basketball), just as Mexico hates that America beats them at their own game (soccer).

Maybe your hatred (and that of others) really comes from Badger fans' ungratefulness.  Bear with me.  Badger fans would likely trade a bball championship for a Rose Bowl appearance.  You hear that and say "WHAT!>?!?!?!? are you crazy?  I would give my left index finger for a championship!!"  It's as though they have this great team/coach and don't truly appreciate it as much as you would.  In that sense it is as if Badger fans don't deserve such great basketball success because they don't put in the time/effort of learning the game, the players on the team, etc.  Nobody really likes seeing gifts bestowed upon people who don't deserve them.

This kind of reminds me of the US in soccer.  Mexican fans HATE that we have recently consistently beat them.  It's funny because soccer is THEIR game and here in the US, it is what, fifth most popular?  We beat them at their own game.

The only thing to congratulate Bo for is that he kicked the ass of another overrated dork coach Calipari. About 6 Burger Boys on his team, much more talent than Wiscy, and he gets his butt kicked. Couldn't happen to a bigger jerk.

And I agree, they don't deserve that team. They ignore them for 4 of the 5 months of the season. They crow on about titles and top four league finishes when they didn't watch any of the games that earned those accolades. But when it comes to bragging, they'll go on about it to no end.

It stings to see UW in the National Final, especially in the midst of MU's worst season in decades. Our coach comes from Duke and I'm sure Wojo would like to see a Duke win.

But, I'd like to think that if it was switched, most UW fans would be pulling for Marquette. So, I won't be cheering against UW, but I can't say I'll enthusiastically be pulling for them either. I hope its a well officiated, good clean game, where the best team wins. UW is a great team and they deserve to be where they are. That's as far as I will go.

I don't know how a team full of floppers and whiners is likable.  I mean I understand that NateDogg can relate to whiners, but the rest of us?  Great team, great coach, and a really watchable style the last two years.  But likable? Outside of Dekker    I don't really like any of them, though Nigel Hayes is starting to grow on me.  I like Hayes sense of humor while Dekker has always oozed confidence when he spoke and has been a clutch performer.  Loved his State final display after the Racine Lutheran fans chanted overrated with a minute to go.  Dekker turned a 28 point game and 8 point deficit into 40 point game and one point win.  Reminded me of when Tulane fans chanted overrated at Wade and he went off for 35. 

As for the rest of the team...Koeing strikes me as kind of a pr*ck...Gasser is a super duper whiner and flopper...and Kaminsky is king of the superdorks.

I DESPISE UW basketball, but I like Dekker (even though Ive said he was overrated until this recent assertive tourney performance) and like Hayes.  But Gasser is the worst.  Typifies everything unpleasant about a Bo-coached player, and he's taunted the Marquette fans/students each year he's played in Milwaukee.  He's an ass.  I gagged as the media was chuckling over him being called Captain America.  Him getting that terrible charge called on him was ironic given his incessant flopping.
