On the heels of Jerel getting another shot...

Still amazes me that Vander isn't getting his chance there with the way he's been playing for the D-Fenders, but glad for Dwight! Hope he can stick.

Oh man.

This would be awesome.

Even awesomer is if Vander could get into the league.

Even awesomer than that is if Ox could get some coffee!

That makes seven.  Have ever we had that many in the league at once?  Maybe another very brief time in the past couple years?

There was a second where Hayward, DJO, Crowder, Butler, Matthews, Novak and Wade were all in.  That ended quickly but it happened
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

No offense to Dwight, but Lakers are full on tank mode right now.   They only get to keep their lottery pick if it is in the top 5.

Buycks was with the Raptors last year, DJO and Lazar were out of the league by then.

Pretty sure DJO got a 10-day at some point last year, thought 'Zar's contract went through last year as well but looks like you're right

MUfan12

You're right, DJO had a 10 day with the Sixers last season. Totally forgot about that.

I am really happy for Dwight.  I love seeing a Milwaukee kid and Marquette guy get some time in the NBA.  I wish him the best and I hope he sees some minutes.

It seems that the Lakers really wanted/needed a point guard for that roster spot.  Otherwise I can't see why the brought in Dwight from the Ok City affiliate when Vander has been training/practicing/playing in the Lakers own backyard (literally - the D-fenders play in the Lakers El Segundo practice facility).  From what I've read recently, Vander has been their primary playmaker and distributor.  Not sure he's playing the point, per se, but he's facilitating the offense.  Furthermore, he's shooting 40% from 3?!?!?  He's put in a long year.  I hope he gets into an NBA jersey before the season ends.  The Lakers just had a few injuries so hopefully they have a free spot soon.

Until then...Go Dwight!  Go Jerel!

During the 1979-80 season, Marquette had 8 NBA players:

Chones, Lucas, Walton, Tatum, Ellis, Whitehead, Lee and Toone.

And there were only 22 teams in the league (as opposed to 30 now).

I BELIEVE THERE WERE ALSO LESS PLAYERS ON A TEAM BACK THEN.
