Thanks for posting that clip. I was following that game with the horrible play-by-play on Yahoo. We were down, time was running out, and the final score flashed up. I was thinking "Farge!" when I took a second look and saw that we had the gigger number! Never did see the video until today! Thanks again.

So is that correct?  Jerel has never stripped off the warm up to enter the game during one of his 10 day contracts over the years?  And am I remembering correctly that Vander had exactly one 10 day and that he got some reasonable minutes for the Celtics during that short run?

Correct on Jerel. 10 days each with NO and Utah, but no appearances. Vander got in 3 games with the Celtics during his solo 10 day contract.

Jamil Wilson is Jerel's teammate on the D-league team.  jamil is out with an injury

I want to thank the @Suns for this amazing opportunity #Blessed

Feeling good about him getting a couple of minutes.  AJ Price was the guy brought in on a 10 day before him, and they weren't impressed, but he did end up taking 14 shots (making only 3 and missing all 7 three pointers.... not sure if this attributed to him not returning.)
I read that the Jam and the Suns are owned by the same people and run the same system so players can come in and contribute.  Sounds like a good situation.

Mobot

Jerel with his first minute of action... guarding Stephon Curry and nailed a jumper.

Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

Mobot

A little flat on the three point attempt but his form looks good.

Nice, finally getting in a game and scoring!  Time to retire his jersey.

ChitownSpaceForRent

Good for Jerel, he deserves it. Add that to the overall count vs. Bucky.

Really happy for Rel.  Long time coming.  Guessing he'll stick through the remaining 6-7 games the Suns have.  Question.  Does this work a little like the NFL when active roster status grants potential exclusive rights to the team?  In other words, to the Suns get exclusive negotiating rights after the season because they signed him?

RushmoreAcademy

Happy to see him in the game. Not in a blowout either!

Not sure if anyone saw it but Buycks was signed to a 10 contract with the Lakers. http://www.nba.com/lakers/releases/150403_dwight_buycks

Take that, AJ.

A nice quick article on Jerel, the passing of his father, and getting that first taste of game action

Looks like he got a few more minutes and a rebound against the hawks tonight.

Whoa .. the Suns signed Jerel for 2015-16 season!

http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=17570

The Phoenix Suns have signed guard Jerel McNeal through the 2015-16 season. The Suns had previously signed McNeal to a 10-day contract on April 1.

McNeal, whose first name is pronounced Jah-rell, made his NBA debut with the Suns on April 2 and has appeared in four games with the team since initially signing.

In 27 games with the Bakersfield Jam this season, McNeal averaged 18.5 points, 4.6 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 steals. The 6-3 guard scored a season-high 40 points on 16-of-23 shooting for the Suns' NBA Development League affiliate on March 7 at Austin.

A two-time NBA D-League All-Star, McNeal had previously signed with an NBA team during the regular season on two occasions though he made his debut with the Suns earlier this month. The 27-year-old spent 10 days with the New Orleans Hornets from March 9-19, 2011, and ended the season with the Utah Jazz from March 27-April 17, 2013. This was McNeal's fourth career D-League season with Bakersfield (2012-15) and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (2010-11) as he holds career averages of 18.7 points, 5.1 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 135 games.

Undrafted out of Marquette University in 2009, McNeal has participated in NBA training camps with the Los Angeles Clippers (2009), Houston Rockets (2010) and Toronto Raptors (2012) and has also played professionally in Belgium, Italy and China. McNeal played four seasons at Marquette (2005-09) where he remains the Golden Eagles' all-time leading scorer (1,985 career points) and earned Associated Press All-America Second Team honors as a senior in 2008-09.

GGGG

It's not guaranteed until after summer league however.

WarriorFan

so how much would a contract like that be worth?

Is it more than what he could earn overseas?

I'm also wondering how the numbers would look out if you factor on he was making peanuts while playing D-league for so long vs being in Europe that whole time and never making it to the NBA

314warrior

He stayed in the D-League for one reason - to play in The Association (and maybe to be closer to home).  I can't say how happy I am for him to finally get the chance!  Hopefully, they keep him on till his contract becomes guaranteed.  JM's did great things at Marquette, and I had a lot of fun celebrating the wins and lamenting the narrow defeats of those excellent teams in the the old Big East.  Go Jerel!

boyonthedock

I'm an 05-09 guy myself, so Jerel and Wes and Dominic and Dwight and Lazar and Ous were the guys that got me hooked on this team. Happy to see his dream is within reach.

Jerel had 7 points tonight in extended minutes for the Suns in their last game. Also had 3 steals. Hopefully he can catch on with the Suns or another team next season.

Edit: didn't see that he was signed for next year too, but I would guess it isn't guaranteed. Hopefully they keep him around.
