Potential Tourney Match-Ups
« on: March 18, 2015, 08:40:59 PM »
This could probably go in the Superbar but thought I'd post it here initially.  I'm in the process of filling out a few brackets and I was curious to get some thoughts on some potential match-ups that could occur.  If the following games were to occur who would you like and why:

Nova-Virginia

Iowa St.-Gonzaga

Zona-Badgers

Personally I'm leaning slightly towards Virginia, Iowa St. and Zona but I keep going back and forth.

Thoughts in case you don't want to discuss transfers anymore?

Don't think virginia even makes it to Nova. I believe in the fighting Izzos.

Iowa state will destroy Gonzaga. McKay may be one of the few who can guard Wjilter on the perimeter. Also way too deep. Iowa st goes 9-10 deep incase someone goes cold. Honestly, they're my team in the final vs. Kentucky.

As much as I hate to say it. Probably Wisconsin. Zona has played against some terrible competition in the Pac 12 And hasn't really been tested lately.

I would have Nova (though have UVa losing to Michigan State), Iowa State (final four team), and Arizona over UNC. I mean, I guess Wisconsin.

This. I thought I was being so clever choosing MSU beating UVA and Iowa St in my final 4 until I saw everybody do it

I actually would also have Nova, Iowa State and Arizona over UNC.  I have UW losing to UNC.

Yup. Ole Roy is 6-0 in the Sweet 16 since taking over at UNC. He's been pretty good with a week to prep. Speaking of the week to prep, Roy is 9-1 at UNC with a week to prepare. His only loss was in the Final Four to Kansas.

Uhhhh????????

Idk if you've watched the two teams play but Gonzaga matches up excellent against them. Not saying it's a sure fire win...tourney anything can happen.

McKay the only shot block out on the perimeter on Wiltjer? Niang will foul out in 10 minutes trying to guard Sabonis and karnowski. The random bench guy who just started getting PT for KU because of Ellis injury had no issues.

McKay is also limited on O against big strong teams. Texas has kept him inconsistent.

Gonzaga rebounds, defends and scores efficiently. ISU doesn't rebound well and doesn't defend.

Their main strength is shootig which Gonzaga also does.

Also. ISU like Gonzaga has 6 guys that score and they don't go 9-10 deep.

They play 8. Once in a blue moon Nader(the 7th) doesn't suck and Thomas makes Jake thomas look like a god

One concern with Iowa St. is they keep falling behind by double-digits and that's going to eventually catch up with them.  However, Gonzaga has played nowhere near the same level of competition in conference play.

Easy, Nader is a very close friend of mine. Has had a very good season considering he came from NIU. Edozie gets playing time thats why I consider them 9 deep.

Can't see Bucky losing second round. I know Oregon was close last year, but can't see that happening again even away from the BC.

Tell him that if he makes his first 3 of game he doesn't need to take 4 more. He's probably gonna miss them. The numbers even out. Then he'd be a solid player. He's got size to drive.

Zags don't advance past Iowa st.   watched them lose to BYU and play USD twice.  San Diego played them too close the second time.

After the preseason when teams are raw , they don't play anybody of note.

ISU lol

Could you imagine what Sabonis and karnowski would do to Niang? Sadly we can't even see it now.

I'm more than a little pissed right now to see one of my close friends get knocked out to a team who doesn't deserve crap. So like I said earlier unnatural carnal knowledge off.
