Jay Wright: "they were playing zone and giving us the threes".  Yup.........hello......

Derrick/Carlino = 6 turnovers
Carlino = zero points
Fisher has taken two shots
Passes into the post are brutal, Traci Carter you watching........

Least the fellas got a BE Tourney win last night, but just not in same league as Nova today.

To be fair, Nova is playing some of the most physical defense I've seen.  They play D like this in the tournament, and the non BE refs will call a lot of fouls.

The inability to draw fouls this season is perplexing.

This team must have one of the lowest FTA season totals in recent memory.
Putting the opposing players in foul trouble is just one more factor MU could have implemented in the first half.

Too much O spent in the first BE tourney game...

Spoken like a true Cubs fan. Is that correct?

But I agree. A fan has gotta be a fan tho.

Sure, keep rooting for the good guys. Just don't rip them when reality plays out. (Not you, but many others on this thread)

Derrick is playing the complete opposite of yesterday

So he's back to playing like his regular self...

Sure you can! You lose the zone and play tight man. Why are we playing zone against a team that rains threes? You reap what you sow. Wojo is a great recruiter, but has a ton, a ton, to learn as a coach. Especially adjustments. Last night we had a 25 point lead with 5 minutes left, and Derrick and Carlino played every minute. Wojo did not sub them until about a minute left. A noon game today and both Derrick and Carlino are beat. Carlino 0-5 and Derrick with 5 TO's at the half. Villanova is a very good team, but Wojo has much to learn about game coaching.

Some people don't like to admit that coaching does matter.

MU would have been better off playing man and letting the guy drive in for a layup once it became obvious they were going to be hot from three point land.  Instead, Wojo lets MU get it's brains beat in with that awful zone.

WarriorPride68

Will Wojo ditch the zone next year?

And please do not forget his sub pattern from yesterday!!!!
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Coaching does matter.  Some people just think that an anonymous message board guy doesn't know more than a guy paid to do it.

Um. When I was speaking about trolls I was referring to you.  Live with that dude.

One interesting thing is that when they show Wojo in the huddle during a time out, he's always talking about playing tougher but he's never giving specific things to do to help the situation.

His biggest weakness seems to be not being able to make in-game adjustments.

nyg

Wow, just checked.  MU did not have one free throw attempt.

This board was really nice for a while, too.

When television is allowed in the huddle, they are only allowed to use footage such as this.  They are not allowed to use parts where strategy is a part of the discussion.

I mean, timeouts are three minutes long?  They only show 10-15 seconds at most.

You know those aren't live shots, right? They don't broadcast what inbounds play a team is going to run or what specific adjustments they're going to make. If that was the case, coaches would hire an assistant whose sole responsibility was keeping the camera far, far away from the huddle. They show a 10-second clip of encouragement.

Lookin kinda tough right now.

team just doesn't have it today. turnovers, giving up open shots, can't make a jumpshot. this program desperately needs some kids who can shoot the damn ball

Instead of meaningless encouragement, I'd like to hear "move the zone out and contest the shots."
