Roster next year
« on: March 10, 2015, 11:33:42 AM »
Steve Taylor
JaJuan Johnson
Luke Fischer
Duane Wilson
Wally Ellenson
Sandy Cohen
Matt Heldt
Henry Ellenson
Sacar Anim
Haanif Cheatham
Traci Carter

Mache and Mache?

Am I missing anyone?  Will we actually have 10+ guys??  Also interesting to note that everyone except Steve Taylor could be here for atleast 2 years.  Would be great to see all of these guys play together for the full 2 years.

You have them all.  Mark Miller just tweeted that he thinks they will look for "perhaps a transfer and a fifth year guy like Carlino."

That makes a lot of sense given that we only have one senior in 2016.

Yup. I think a grad transfer is almost certain to be a target. Let's us full out this roster even more while still having a schollie for 16-17.

A grad xfer, particularly if a PG, could actually make them a pretty decent team next year. If Fischer could add 10-15 lbs between now and then, even better.

I like that roster and, like many have said, I'll like it even more if we add an experienced PG (and/or rebounder) to the mix.

Not trying to be a wise-arse with this question but seriously asking it for those who seem to know this kind of stuff: Is there anything to the Scoop speculation that JJJ would be outta here after this year? That talk seems to have died down in recent days but it was a big part of a few other threads.

Assuming all these guys pan out like they're supposed to, I wholeheartedly agree.  Will be scary good in 2016-2017.  Nice work.

Fixed.  Eh, Steve's probably ok.

Missing Cam Marotta.

The missing piece.

From an eight man team to as many as 16 if all the walk-ons are on the roster.  The Office Max in Grand Ave could have been saved with all the extra folding chairs they're going to need!

Need a grad transfer PG and a rebounding banger who hustles and plays great D.

We have 2 schollies left for 2015-2016. What I think our needs are going forward:

1. Grad transfer/juco PG who can start next season
2. Grad transfer/juco SF who can start next season, preferably a beast on the boards
3. Traditional transfer PF who can replace Steve and potentially Henry should he go pro
4. Traditional transfer, best available player
5. Freshman PF

I think we'll get one for next year, but not both.

If correct, I hope it's a PG.  Not disrespecting Mr. Carter but I'd rather not turn the team over to a freshmen right away with other new players we're trying to work into the mix.

Ryan Arcidiacono is one guy who did pretty well as a freshman starter in the Big East.  I know that there are others.  So, maybe he'll be able to handle it.  It seems that having the opportunity to run the show from day one was a big part of MU's allure for Traci.

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Only one guy graduates. Unless we can get a quality PG to add to the above, Wojo should probably bank the last two schollies, IMO. Taylor is the only guy that graduates, so it would be better to have 3 schollies for the next class.
If he can add 3 quality recruits to that class, things will be looking rosey!

MU moved up in ESPN rankings to no. 9.

And at #10.........Duke.  I'd love to hear the next call with Coach K, (I'm sure he's going to be excited for and proud of Wojo).

That's old. That was after Sacar committed. Carter should push us past Florida, Florida State, and maybe LSU

Never bank scholarships. Sign some prospects and if they don't work out and you can get someone better, cut them. Plus, you never know when transfers, injuries, etc will strike.

Agree.  No need to self-impose scholarship penalties on the program for failing to fill a roster.  All we need is to start at 11 and have a transfer and two injuries and be back to eight available players.

Interesting, they have Traci Carter listed in the description but not in the commits section. Also, how does Florida's 4  four stars beat our 5 star and 4 four stars? This is why I don't use ESPN for recruiting rankings

Will be interesting to see if Wojo goes back to the aggressive man defense next year. Anim and Carter can really guard. Cheatham has that capability, but will need to get reps in a team defensive concept. Gonna be fun to watch these guys develop as a class.
