And we are officially are in last place in the Big East

Silver lining? Away from Nova in the BET. Woo!

Lennys Tap

Yippee! We're in line for the coveted 10th seed!

Anti-Dentite

Don't let me down boys, I want that 10 seed!

At least it can't any worse, what a piss of a season.

At the beginning of the season, I would have bet a decent chunk of change that Marquette WOULD NOT end up in last place.

Yet here we are.  Maybe we can find a way out of the cellar the last four games of the season?

Creighton has @ Seton Hall, home vs. Nova, and home vs. X left.

We have @ Butler, @ Providence, and home versus St. John's and DePaul.

If Creighton wins any of those three I think we will have that coveted #10 seed.  If they lose out I would say we finish ninth.

AirPunches

Best just to finish last. Bracket is much easier. First game vs DePaul. I will take our chances.

Let's be realistic. It really means very to have some minor perceived advantage in the BE tournament by being in last place.  We are not going to win the BE and go to the NCAA or all of a sudden take some miracle positive turn.

The best way to end the season is play hard, progress and win as many games as we can in preparation for next year. The best part of this season is it gives all of us a greater appreciation as to how difficult it is to be a winner. Some day, when we are it will be all the sweeter, until then keep the hope and support the team.

I just want to see a win on senior day. Because it's DePaul, because it'd be a nice way for Derrick and Juan to go out, and because it will look better for Traci Carter.

Those of us who took 10-14 wins in the preseason poll are not surprised.

I think Wojo's just playing for a draft pick now.

chapman

We'll be better next year just by getting some butts in seats.  When there's two minutes remaining in the game and you have one guy on the bench who isn't in a suit or warm-ups it's hard to expect to win.

WooHoo. Firmly entrenched in last place. Thank you phony cowboy/hillbilly!

I agree that I just want them to play hard and do what they can to win, but I'd be good if Creighton kept winning along with us.   A small little tourney run of a couple of games would also be a nice way to end the season, and that isn't happening with Nova in front of us..... okay maybe it's not happening regardless, but there's not happening and then there's not happening.
9th vs. 10th doesn't mean much.  There is no celebrating a 9th place finish any more than a 10th.

While winning zero tournament games is still the most likely scenario, if they are in the bottom half and have everyone available to play, winning a couple games is not completely out of the realm of possibilities. Playing on Friday night would at least bring a little bit of interest and excitement to season that frankly has had none. Unlikely? Absolutely, this team isn't any good, but not impossible.

mu03eng

The team should play to win, which with maybe one or two exceptions, they've done this year they just haven't actually won on the scoreboard.  I expect that to continue and we split the last 4 games of the season.  I still think we finish last, which I'm fine with because I don't think it's representative of this team performance and it may let us sneak up on some people next year.

Hey, if we can't get to 7th, might as well be 10th so I can watch the games in the evening.

Exactly.

As Herm Edwards says: "You play to win the game."

I expect nothing less from Wojo's boyz.

If playing hard all the time and maybe even playing well a couple times leads to victories that vault them to 9th place, so be it. If they lose 'em all and finish 10th, so be it. There is no extra pride or extra boost involved in avoiding last place, nor is there any reason to start any "We're No. 9!" chant.

I think it's great we're in 10th. Go from having zero expectations in MSG to having absolutely zero expectations in MSG. More importantly, if we can shake some rust off Carlino these last few games he's the type of shooter that can get hot for a couple nights and cause a problem in a conference tournament, especially since our opponents are likely to have all the pressure of trying to make the NCAA Tournament.

Marquette gets to Friday night in MSG I'd count it like a Championship.

Badgers winning NCAA championship would make it worse.

Creighton, I believe was 0-8 in conference so they are playing very well after that start. The opposite of DePaul & Seton hall

I do have to say, though, that every national hack next season will be throwing out phrases like "dead last" and "bottom of the barrel" in their preseason write-ups, which I would not relish. So there would be a small benefit to finishing 9th.

And by "hacks", I mean those several levels above Myron Medcalf... I shudder to think what incoherent half-truths he'd come up with.
