Say what you want about Buzz, he sure as hell could find diamonds in the rough.

That article seems to contradict a lot of things about his offers out of high school and then out of junior college.........

First, that might have been the best article I have ever read on Bleacher Report. (And I am an extremely tough grader.) Ric Bucher always has been an outstanding writer, and I'm impressed that Bleacher Report was willing to bring him on because he doesn't fit their profile of "young and cheap."

Second, those who love JFB but hate Buzz -- which seems to cover the vast majority of residents here in Scoopland -- are being pulled in all kinds of crazy directions by the facts in this article.

There simply is no JFB without Buzz. And certainly Buzz probably wouldn't have experienced much of his early MU success without JFB. They will be forever linked.

Last season sucked, in great part because of Buzz's mindset, but I appreciate Buzz for all the entertainment he gave me and the fun I had watching us win. I had much the same feelings about Crean after he left. And I'm nowhere near as frustrated with Wojo as some are. All these situations needed (and in Wojo's case, need) time to develop.

As for Jimmy, I love watching him as a pro. If I were a high school coach, I'd make a 15-minute Butler video, show it to my players and say, "THIS is how you need to approach basketball if you want to win."

Maybe shines more light on transfers under Buzz as well.

They've (Bleacher Report) been doing this for the last two years.

The irony is I thought it was well written in prose, but factually had some problems.  Either that or Buzz and the author need a truthy serum about some of the statements.

"Marquette's offer was the only one Jimmy received. He was in the car when he showed it to Tyler assistant coach Scott Monarch, who understood the golden ticket Jimmy had been given. Monarch immediately made Butler sign it, drove to the nearest McDonald's and asked to use their fax machine."

This is just a flat out falsehood.

Jimmy had offers from Kentucky, and others (Clemson, Mississippi State, Iowa State) out of Junior College.  He was a Junior College All American honorable mention.

Before someone says Kentucky didn't offer because I have read that here a number of times.....please don't call Jimmy a liar.   http://www.jsonline.com/sports/goldeneagles/107124358.html

As for Buzz's rankings of Jimmy in high school....I realize Buzz is an idiot savant with numbers, but that doesn't always make him right either....or maybe he is misremembering.

Anyone see Butler in last night's NBA all-star game?  He played only 9 minutes and had 6 points.  But what I saw that was mot interesting was Butler was purposely feeding the ball to Carmelo on offense getting him as many shots as possible.  Interesting in that Butler made his name by tormenting Carmelo on Defense his rookie year.

Good to call writers out on factual errors, and that is one Bucher, who is outstanding, shouldn't have made.

I will throw this out for consideration, though: Is it possible Butler misinterpreted Kentucky's interest as an "offer"? It certainly wouldn't be the first or last time that happened.

Important: I am not saying that was the case. I surely do not know. I don't follow recruiting because it bores me and because it's embarrassing to humanity to see the way these kids are handled throughout the process. I was just throwing it out there as a conversation point.

Loved Jimmy's reply to a New York writer asking him in a roundabout way about playing for the Knicks next year:

"Can you see yourself playing at MSG?"
"Yeah, we play here on the road."

My two cents based on what I have seen for years with sports writers....they get their information from their guys and don't do much digging.  I suspect Buzz told him this because Buzz believes it.  Or Jimmy told him, but since Buzz is quoted in the article extensively about JFB's ratings, I suspect it was Buzz.

Maybe he is misremembering things. It was only a few short weeks ago that we had people here all over a certain ex coach for saying Robert Jackson couldn't finish properly with his left hand when he came to MU.  Maybe Buzz or Monarch thought something happened that didn't.  There's another article where Jimmy talks of offers from 3 other schools....so I'm having a hard time thinking all of them didn't offer but Jimmy thinks they all did.   I know Monarch and Buzz would never stretch the truth....
