I was there as well. Looks to me like he was going about 60% and had a 6'4 165 pound kid guarding him. He did miss the two dunks, but loved the aggressiveness on the second one. Drove the lane and tried throwing down on someone. He's really smooth, hard to believe you're watching a 6'10 player. Can't imagine him in the NBA in two years, but I don't watch much HS basketball.

Ellenson played the 2nd least minutes of the entire USA roster (Diamond Started and avg 15 & 10). Even Swanigan a 2016 big man played more then Ellenson.


For what that's worth, he didn't get a ton of run (80 min over 7 Games)

you could say that about any highly rated high school player. Not many high school teams loaded with 5 star players. Why do you single out our recruit?

He got double and triple teamed EVERY time he touched it. It's not like he was matched up 1 on 1. Rice Lake has one other good player, the rest are role players. He'll be good in college because he can shoot, dribble and post.

If by "role players" you mean they have very little basketball skill and IQ.......then I agree.  HE's supporting cast is baaaaaddd.

He did, but I'm still confident he has played against other big kids, and as hairy mentioned, how much does any high schooler play other bigs? Is Diamond Stone matched with 6'9" to 7'0" players regularly?

Anyone who has been to a Rice Lake or Dominican game know they play low competition and that AAU is where they do damage

Have seen Henry play against competition his size many times. Better competition and better help on his own team will only help him. The versatility is such that he's an unique weapon that can inflict damage in various ways.

Box and 1's isn't a defense he'll see in the future.

Probably when I was finally sold on Ellenson as a potential top 10 guy was his first trip to Colorado Springs and watching how he worked against the other elite bigs in camp for a full weekend.

Yeah, I was trying to be nice. They all look like football players forced into action. #10 will play on the next level somewhere, probably division III.

Because I'm an MU fan and am worried by the high expectations so many people have based on watching him break down guys half a foot shorter than him?

I won't deny his skills set is extremely rare for a guy his size.  And I definitely like seeing Jay Bee post about him working against other elite bigs for an entire weekend.  But the way some people are getting lathered up after seeing Henry go to work against far inferior teams expecting him to be a dominant force in the BEast day 1 worries me.

June 2013 rankings: 29, 43, 41 (average of 37.7). We believe these are too low and that Henry's rankings will improve over the next year.

LNH Notes: You may hear Ellenson called a center by some, but that's selling him short. Physically he looks the part and he can certainly battle on the blocks, but his skill and athletic ability sets him far apart from other kids his size.

Henry is an excellent shooter with plenty of range well past the three-point line, but has also worked on developing his game on the blocks. Over the next few years he should be able to continue adding to his arsenal of offensive weapons, which is a scary thought for teams trying to defend him. (10/25/12)

Stop worrying. Sounds like an inferiority complex. No one knows exactly how any of these guys will do at the next level. He is ranked where he is for a reason

Diamond gets guarded by 6" 4 guys every game. If every team had seven footers to guard these guys then we would get a better read.

I love what Henry brings to the table with an inside out game.

The question is how the heck does Diamond think he fits into the swing offense. He's a back to the basket guy who will be asked to  spend half the game outside the 3 point line handling the ball and shooting 3s.

Henry is going to be given every opportunity to run this team. That's why I expect big things. He's not getting eased into anything.
