While yesterday was a solid performance from Steve, let's not pretend like it's the only solid performance from him this season.  There have been bad games (but who hasn't had them this year?) but I've seen some good development under the radar from Taylor.  Part of his struggles is that he is always playing the five when Luke is not in the game.

I think Steve plays better with another post player personally.  I understand the limitations with going only eight deep and being undersized.  I would really like to see Wojo employ a rotation of Luke, Steve and Juan where two are always on the floor at the same time while the third is being spelled for rest.  It would keep our only three post players fresher and the 3-5 minute stretches when both Taylor and Fischer are on the floor together it allows Taylor the ability to work against the team's 4 rather then their 5 where he is better suited IMO.

Foul trouble is going to be a concern because we only have eight players, but finding a way to get Taylor and Fischer on the court for 12-15 minutes together would greatly benefit this team moving forward.
Shut this board down at the opening tip.  If they win, open it back up.  If they lose, keep it shut it down until the next morning.  - Sultan of Slurpery

Taylor is absolutely better at the 4. His biggest issues are lack of height/athleticism against bigger defenders, leading to alot of blocked or altered shots when playing the 5. If he has a smaller defender on him, he can be productive. He's a much better player playing in the high/wide post as well as opposed to down low.

We all know that Steve is taking one for the team this year.  Consider this. Luke,  Steve and Henry next year?  Let Matt absorb 10 minutes at #5.  I'm sure Steve prepared diligently to play center this year out of necessity.  Let him refine his PF game this off season.

2015 conference:
5: Fischer-32 mins, Heldt-8 mins.
4: Henry-28 mins, STJr.-12 mins.

That's nice.

I think we'll see Steve with 15-20 MPG next year unless Luke can figure out a way to stay out of foul trouble.

This is assuming he returns to ASU/Alabama A&M Fischer where FS1 guys were calling him the second best big man in the country, of course...

If the FS1 guys were doing that, then they are not qualified to be FS1 guys. Even Dickie V  wouldn't stoop to that level of hype.

Calling him a better player than Kaminsky, Townes, Cauley-Stein, Looney, Turner, Portis, Miles, etc is moronic. It is Skip Bayless saying Tebow was better than Rodgers.

I'm impressed you got through that list without saying Okafor.

The original post said 2nd best big man. I assumed we all knew Okafor was #1.

I have always liked Steve.  It seems that he needs to be coached up to play well.  It worked this past week.  He has the ability but needs to be pushed.

Whoever called the @Depaul game said it.

Granted he was looking pretty unstoppable at the time, what was he shooting, like 90%?

That almost makes it worse, PTM. The guy basing it on a couple games as opposed to doing it game in and game out.

STjr is a solid player when healthy. I like it when he plays alongside Luke they have good chemistry. Also he significantly benefits from JJJ driving the ball as he decent court awareness.

Agenda on track. Well done.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Steve will likely get most of those 8 minutes that you assigned to Heldt. Heldt just isn't going to be ready to contribute that much right away.

I'm fine with that too, thought Mark Miller said he would be ready for some minutes come conference time.

There's more time for Steve when Henry spends time on the perimeter which I believe we shall see regularly.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
