MU/Nova & MU's Struggles in the last 5 Minutes of Close Games
« on: February 03, 2015, 03:47:38 PM »
In four of those games, the Golden Eagles had a lead going into the last five minutes. That means we excluded Georgetown the first time and Xavier, as gut wrenching as the outcomes were. And in those four games, the per-minute numbers suggest a departure from the offensive performance that helped get the lead in the first place. https://misix.com/just-five-more-minutes-marquette

Another great read!

Hopefully wojo can get Carlino to stop playing hero ball.

Exhausted legs due to extended playing time will often lead to a poor result...

Most of MUs BE foes have played 8 man rotations as well.

I wouldn't say we use an 8 man rotation....feels more like 7 with JJ and STJR making up one more person.

The big difference for me is they play their best 8 out of 12-13 eligible. Carlino is about on par with anyone else's best, but only Derrick and Duane are really Big East caliber starters at this point. And neither is the type that would be top 3 on most teams. Luke should be a rotation guy but instead is our only big option.

Juan and Sandy are decent but not great bench guys that are accounting for close to 50 minutes of late while Steve and Jajuan wouldn't sniff the court on the NCAA contenders. I love this team, love the spirit and effort with which they play, but it's an incomplete roster and it's showing.

Yes, MU has less talent. Lack of talent doesn't lead to fatigue which has been a frequent suggestion by some.

Wojo doesn't know how to coach the last five minutes of games.
