1.  Thank goodness Matt is a chucker.
2.  I don't know what JJJ did, but I hope he learned his lesson.
3.  Playing 7, impossible to sustain defensive intensity.
4.  Chance to take the lead in the final minute, get a point blank look.   Make it and maybe you win.  Miss it....
5.  MU looks so good in transition off of steals.   Half court, not so much.
6.  Nobody, not Duane, not Matt, not Derrick,  could get the ball to Luke on the block consistently.
7.  In the end, playing a conference road game against a team that is undefeated at home and MU has a beautiful look to take the lead in the last minute.    So close....and yet so far.

So disappointing we have had a chance to win all 3 road games and choked.

I disagree with 'choked'.   Didn't have enough players, depth, energy, diversity in the offense, to finish the job.

Our guards are bad at feeding the post but a lot of that is Luke's inability to anchor himself and seal his man. He gets pushed off his spot too easily. He's a very skilled player but until he learns to do that, he'll never consistently be an offensive threat for us.

Wojo needs to figure this out, can't have guards just staring him down on the perimeter and forcing passes.

At some point it would be nice to figure the 2nd half funk, half-court disappears too often

Lack of depth is a lousy excuse. Plenty of teams play only 7 guys.

We blew two double digit leads.

And in all 3 games we had chances late to take the lead.

That is basically choking

Luke Rolled perfectly after every screen he set.  Never was the ball passed to him on the roll.  He was wide open on about 50% of them.  Simplest play in hoops.  MU needs to learn how to do it.

I agree, Luke flashes into position and gives up on it before our guard is in position to get him the ball.

Is it choking because of the pressure or gasping because you are out of gas.

+1.

We're not good enough not to play perfectly in order to get a road win.  We had our chances today. X stepped up big time in the second half.  It wasn't a choke at all.

More like stepped in to their open shots in the second half.

It was a fun game to watch. I can't even imagine how bad we would be if we didn't have carlino.

X hit some silly threes in the 2H. Onto the next one.

I'm "happy" with today's outcome. I'm never truly happy with a loss but a lot of good things happened in this game.

1. We held the number 2 offense, and the top scoring offense in the Big East to 62 points. Xavier has scored 70 or more points in every game but 2 this season.
2. We forced Xavier into 12 first half turnovers. If we kept that up in the second half...
3. Remy Abell has never hit more than 2 3Ps in a game before. He decided to go off for 5 today. That doesn't happen, we win easily.
4. Luke's shot rolls in 9/10 times. Just got an unlucky roll this time.
5. This was a road game against a better team. We were expected to lose by 9. We didn't.

If you continue to get upset at this team every game, you are an idiot.  Look at the roster we have.  This is how things are going to be.
What is not understood about that very simple idea. It can be hard to win games even when you have guys.

GGGG

Marquette is limited.  But they are playing hard and with a lot of energy.  This type of outcome is to be expected.

thehammock

Such a struggle to score. Only reached 60 points in 2 of last 11 games!

All those are very true but a few things.

Abell is a great shooter, we gave him enough looks. We were not unlucky that he happened to "hit" them

Luke just simply needs to make that

And yeah I expected us to get our doors blown off today but it makes this all the more disappointing. We have had double digit leads in 4/5 gams so far...we are 2-2 in those games and 1/4 in sustaining the lead(Prov got close but never tied)

Just playin with our emotions. And know we have St Johns who is most likely going to smash us for real this time(just not a good match up and on the road). Could be 3-2(heck 4-1) and plyaing with house money.

Coach K will shorten his rotation to 7. Boeheim only plays 7.

Do those guys win a lot?

Take a look at the 7 on Duke and Syracuse.  Come on.

1. They have top talent
2. Both run 8 man rotations
3. Syracuse plays at a very slow pace
4. There is a big difference between running an 8 man rotation and literally only having 8 scholarship players
